Just a random question.
How are the Breath of Fire games? I was thinking of picking up breat hof Fire V 10$ for PS2 but I wanted to know if these games were good. Does it revolve around story, puzzles, battle system, or characters?
And the final question is: Which of the Five is the best?

Personally I love BoF 2, that's just me though.
If anything, start from the first game and work your way up, the earlier BoF the better really.

I think I need to play BoF2 again, as I never got around to beating it. :l

In my mind, Breath of Fire is a decent although unexceptional RPG series.
I've played I,II, and IV but haven't finished any of them.
I-IV are essentially standard RPGs.
V : Dragon Quarter takes a number of liberties with the genre and series, and winds up being a game that you will either love or hate(in addition to being a big financial failure for Capcom). It's also supposed to be quite difficult.

Well, I havent played an RPG I haven`t liked, (I disliked Mario Super Star Saga for an amount of time, but that`s becuase I looked at it in a wrong light) and i haven`t tried Unlimited SaGa. Are the PS1 BoF games rare?
Are the plots connected?

Breath of Fire II is my personal favorite and the one I would recommend the most. And, no, they aren't really connected. The PS1 games shouldn't be that hard to find, especially online.

Don't they all have someone named Ryu though?

Yes.
The main characters are always a dragon-transforming boy named Ryu and a winged girl named Nina.
