I really like the concept of this show, but it seems like all they care about are shoot 'em up games like Doom and crime reenactments like Grand Theft Auto. Does it seem that way to anyone else?

Any RPGs get any awards?

I remember last year the best overall game was Halo and the best RPG was Star Ocean: Till The End of Time. I love SOTTEOT, but i didn`t think it deserved that award at first...., but it did. 2004 was like the silent year for RPGs....and so is 2005 other than Dragon Quest VIII and Wild Arms Alter Code F.

WoW got best RPG? I thought that series was considered Real Time Stratigy.

No it's World of Warcraft not the regular Warcraft series. It's a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG and I think it deserved the award this year. And you're right Tom the past two years have been kinda slow as far as RPG's go.

I'm glad Lumines got Best Handheld game, Katamari Damacy got Best Original Score, and that Resident Evil 4 and God of War got their just due awards. Notice they didn't specify which version of RE4 probably because it would tick off fanboys.:eyeroll:

And they are a little inconsistent in the nominess. Such as best FPS with Perfect Dark Zero up there, yet Prjoect Gotham Racing 3 is not up for best racing? Burnout's an awesome racing game but I'd prefer Gran Turismo 4, Forza, or PGR3 over it any day of the week. And for Best RPG they should have thrown out Dungeon Siege 2 and put in Dragon Warrior VIII.

Dungeon Siege....never heard of it. Some RPG fan I am.

To be honest...It's one big joke.

It's all about glamming up the most overhyped games of the year and throwing out an award to them.

If you gave me an hour on TV and a podium, I could host a better show on my own. I would get the oppinions of GAMERS out there, not people who pick up GTA just to run some people down for fun or just play Halo multiplayer because their drinking buddies asked them to.

WoW as the RPG of the year? What a joke. I'm a WoW fanatic, but it certainly doesn't deserve RPG of the year. How about Radiata Stories, one of the coolest sleeper hits of this year. Fire Emblem: Path Of Radiance deserves some high recognition as well.

I just can't stand Spike's Game Awards...It doesn't represent the gamer community, it represents the general population who occasionally plays games.

Especially when one realizes that WoW was released last year.

I'm glad that RE4 won game of the year at Spike. It didn't win a single award at the G4 awards, if I remember correct.

Released last year, but at the end of the year if I recall correctly. Barely enough time to consider it for an award.

Yeah it's kinda like the Oscars having movies up for nomination from the previous year who didn't make it to the previous Oscar in time. And I do agree for the most part CookinLikeSanji I mean who is on the panel that actually decides the winners? It's certainly not a poll from gamers or even a panel of people from major videogame publications.

Most of the awards were well deserved because they were obvious choices like God of War, Resident Evil, King Kong etc. I'm not talking about the actors and best vixen parts those are kind of useless. Hey I love it when Ray Liota plays Tommy Vercetti in Vice City or Jack Black in King Kong but it wouldn't of changed my opinion if it would have been a good no name voice actor. And some of the nominees were kinda crazy. Why have Perfect Dark Zero in there for best FPS when the game wasn't out yet at the time it was decided? Why was L.A. friggin Rush nominated but not Project Gotham Racing 3? That is ridiculous.

God of War honestly didn't deserve the award. Sure, the game was good, despite the MANY instances of objejctionable content, but it was short, and I really didn't see any point in going through it again.

And please, Bulletproof and King Kong being nominated in Action? What the heck? They haven't even been out for a month. Where's Devil May Cry 3? I can honestly say that DMC3 should have been nominated AND taken the award for best action game.

F.E.A.R. as a nominee for GOTY...? Sure, nominate it, we all love the same repetetive looking industry building layouts and repetitive enemy tactics (Despite some of them are cool). They were pulling some major trash as said before, but think about it this way...WoW is nominated, came out last Winter, Bulletproof is nominated, came out THIS Winter...So why couldn't WoW have been in last years awards?

Like I said, that award show is a joke and a disgrace to the good name of gaming.

I think that they only go by american-made games.
Star Ocean III won the G4tech tv best RPG for 2004, not spike tv.
DMC is a japanese game. I could be wrong.

spike video game awards kinda annoys me cuz it is all about if a game is hiped it wins and if a hip-hop star is in a game then he will win a award and then even if the game is bad it will win several awards

Wait...If you're going to classify DMC3 as a Japanese game because Japan got it first, then go ahead and throw We Love Katamari, Lumines, GT4, Nintendogs, Meteos, Tekken, Darkstalkers and a slew of others into that category. The only difference between DMC3 and those games I listed is that they were actually nominated.

And I just have to bring this up...

"Maybe We Crazy" by 50 Cent in 50 Cent: Bulletproof (Vivendi Universal Games) "Lights and Sounds" by Yellowcard in Burnout Revenge (Electronic Arts)
"When I Get Angry" by Spider Loc in Madden NFL 06 (Electronic Arts)
"Getting Up Anthem: Part I" by Talib Kweli and Rakim in Mark Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure (Atari Inc.)
"Error Operator" by Taking Back Sunday in Fantastic 4 (Activision Inc.)

I'm not even going to say anything. I'm just going to let you look at those nominee's and wait for it to sink in.
