Yay for Xbox 360! My friend won one in Mountain Dew's contest and brought the controller to school today. It's really comfy. Almost too comfy...

I've got mine preordered, but I probably won't get mine with the first shipment.
I even preordered in mid July, oh well that's the way it goes. I'll be picking up Perfect Dark Zero whenever I get it and deffinetly Dead or Alive 4 on Dec. 1st.
Anyway I'm sure a fanboy will come in here as usual and post another snide comment about how "omogoshorz theres so many jaggies on 360 games!!!11"

Waaah, I won't be able to play 360 for some time... I can't afford one, and neither can my friends. But congrats to you! Give us your impressions after you put your eyeballs back in.

I'm in Atlanta, and stopped by Gamestop to check it out (played the Kameo demo and watched the others).
Meh, whatever. It's a nice system and all, just nothing new ('cept the comfier controller). The graphics only looked slightly better to me, but, you know... ain't what's important, right?
Yeah, I'm an N fanboy, but I'm not out ot bash. I just don't want one (not now anyways).

Play it on a HDTV wih 720p instead of a 4:3 puny little TV and tell me the difference. You don't get resolution like that on anything else.
The PS2 launch was terrible, I should know because I had one on day one. It takes at least a year or two for the *really really* good stuff to come for any system with very few exceptions.

Meh, Xbox. No thanks, they don't have enough titles to attract my 400 dollars.

The XBox 360 hasn't done anything stunning in my eyes...though I'm glad I can actually hold the controller now.

It
was an HDTV, and honestly, I don't get the hype about those, either. >_>

Now it all makes sense why everyone wants one! So in addition to a 500 dollar system, I have to buy a 4,000 dollar TV to fully enjoy the gaming experience? WOW!
Xbox 360 IS the greatest system ever! [/sarcasm]

Count me in as one who is just stunned that people would stand in 8 hours to spend $400 on a gaming system. Give me $400 and I can actually afford food and gas for once! I was talkingh to someone who got a 360 and they said that within hours of playing it; something in it when amuck and he can't play it anymore. I searched around and found more instances of the good ol' 360 having some bugs and stuff.

And I'm sure you were saying the exact thing in 1995 about cellphones? To even get a basic phone you had to spend a good $200. Now a standard one is dirt cheap. Same with $400 DVD players back in the mid 90's, you can get one for $50 now.
Yeah because Microsoft is forcing you to buy a HDTV with every console. Still looks good on a CRT to me.
You obviously haven't played any games on an HDTV with 5.1 surround it's like you've never played them before. Nobody ever won by thinking backwards (HDTV/Harddrive-less Revolution) and most people will have HDTV's in 10-15 years anyway. You guys complain about how the 360's graphics aren't "l33t" enough for you or whatever but God forbid Mircrosoft put an *optional* method of making your games look better and it makes it a crime.
And sure there's problems with initial hardware. People will always use the 1-2% defects in a line of products to make it seem like it's a Pento near a bonfire. Besides just read that those who are having problems get a package shipped to them with postage paid and can get a replacement in 5 days. Sounds alright to me really, better than when I had to send my PS2 in and pay the shipping.
Seriously some of you guys need to get over this already. You take this Microsoft bashing like it's personal. It's pretty amusing to imagine an 8 year old, with chocolate ice cream stains on his face, and snot dribbling from his nose saying the stuff you guys are saying. I'll just keep doing that...
Can all of you keep it up with three threads on the same subject going?:eyeroll:

It's not so much that. Just that Myoti said "The graphics don't look THAT much better," and your solution was to play it on a TV that costs more than most people make in a month. Yes, prices on HDTVs will go down, but it's going to take a while, and the 360 is already out.
Meh, doesn't matter to me. Graphics don't make a game.
Speaking of which, I hear it's a pain in the butt to transfer your gamertag over to the 360 from the regular Xbox unless you purchase a program called "Microsoft Password." Is there any truth to this, or is it a rumor to cause more hatred of Microsoft?

Took a while to find some but I did. Some news groups and forums reported bad battery terminals, games not loading right, internet problems, etc etc. I do find it surprising that thier are very few complaints (maybe I am not looking right) concerning the 360 in the bugs department. I thought there would be a whole slew of them but maybe I was wrong. The person I talked to is having his replaced tommorow for one that "works". parently it completely fried on him.
Nevertheless I am not intrested in most of the games save for the new Perfect Dark (being a huge fan of the orginal on 64) but even then I am not willing to spend $400 on something more constructive.
Oh I was doing a bit of investiagting and came across that Microsoft loses $126 with every X-Box made. Intresting.

Meh. I am one of those people who just don't like the Xbox. I don't make excuses like "the grapics are not good enough" Blah blah. "the system falls apart" Guess what, each system will have ugly games, and each system will have crappy units from time to time. That comes mainly with the first ones released at launch. My main reason for being a Sony fan...is that they have the games I want. Smackdown, Soul Calaber, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy...pretty much everything I enjoy. So Xbox fans, enjoy your new system. Us non Xbox fans will just wait patient for our new toy.

*pats Steve on the head*
There, there, good non-ferocious Sony fanboy. Finally, someone who isn't nasty about the console wars.
I tend to think of it as all gamers are winning. I play all systems. No prob. I'm a gamer that's what I do. So instead of arguing which one's gonna be better, I just know I can glean from the best of all three.
And then I very quietly w00t.
And kaemmerite's right. Graphics don't make the game. I went from playing Call of Duty 2 to LOZ:OOT for N64, and had just as much fun.
When consoles war, Zilch wins.

It's a mute point really every piece of hardware has it's launch problems. Microsoft is replacing them for free and even sending postage paid boxes. And before someone posts saying "Nintendo consoles never break" they rarely do because minus the Gamecube none of them had moving parts. Heck my cousin's Gamecube when he first got one didn't even work out of the box. They replaced it promptly of course.
Amen Zilch when consoles compete gamers win. Without competition we'd be playing the same dang thing over and over.
That's a valid point Steve and was exactly why I was in Sony's camp for a long time. Soul Calibur has of course been a multiplatform game but I get the point you were making. But that may not be the case much longer. There's really only been one real thing stopping Konami and Square Enix from fully embracing Microsoft's consoles, the installed base. With the Xbox 360 now coming out mostly like a year before the PS3 Microsoft will already have the numerical advantage there. It remains to be seen really, but I won't be suprised if Konami and Square Enix will start to put their top franchises on the 360 as well as the PS3.

This is why I'm glad Nintendo doesn't bother to "compete" with them. They want to be different, so "competing" would be their biggest mistake. They're not aiming for the same market Sony and MS are. They're aiming towards
everyone, and it'll be up to the consumers to choose it.
It's not so much that. Just that Myoti said "The graphics don't look THAT much better," and your solution was to play it on a TV that costs more than most people make in a month. Yes, prices on HDTVs will go down, but it's going to take a while, and the 360 is already out.
And as I said, I played it
on an HDTV, and they still didn't look too much better in comparison. I don't expect the Revo to look much better, because that's not what I care about. I just want a new way to play.
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one willing to give the Xbox360 a chance.
Heh, I'm willing to give it chance. I mean, stuff like Kameo was fun to me, I just don't want one now (nor do have the cash needed to).
Oh, and I'd like to know what exactly that "very, very small fraction" is. XP
