I gotta know. How many here are fans of the Castlevania games?
What do you like/don't like about them? How many have you played, what's your favorite, etc. etc. etc..
So far, I've played:
NES - I and III
GB
-Castlevania II
SNES
-Castlevania IV and V
Castlevania 64 - the only thing I really liked about it was the final battle, which was awesome.
GBA
-Circle of the Moon and Aria of Sorrow; played Harmony of Dissonance, but it seems kinda blah...
And I just beat Castlevania DS (Dawn of Sorrow). Felt kinda different from most of them, but still good (nice anime scene at the beginning :3 ).
Also, Soma's Final Boss = Bleah, but Julius' Final Boss = Shweet Aweshumness!

Great series… in *2-d* that is.
Castlevania Games I’ve played (in order of how much I liked them):
1. Castlevania IV (SNES) – First Castlevania I beat. It was a memorable experience for me playing all the way through; it was late at night and I beat this game in one sitting.
2. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS) –You just can’t help but feel cool while you play this game.
3. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (DS) – Not the Dawn of much, but an almost prefect Castlevania game. –Just needed to be longer and drop the colorful new anime look.
4. Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (GBA) – My first GBA game and the sole reason to buy one on launch.
5. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA) – Nicely improved on the formula to keep the gameplay from being dull.
6. Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance (GBA) – Had the tried and true gameplay, but the rest of it sucked.
7. Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge (GB) – Finally, I had Castlevania on the go!
8. Castlevania I (NES) – Man, I spend hours tearing this game apart, back in the day.
9. Castlevania 64 (N64) – Pretty cool, but not on par with the 2-d cousins.
10. Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness (N64) - Was technically better than it’s predecessor, but grew dull.
11. Castlevania: Lament of Innocence (PS2) – Nice step for 3-d, but thanks to it’s level design it felt very monotonous.
After Lament of Innocence, I’ll skip Curse of Darkness…

I`m assumming Curse of Darkness could`ve been better.
I`ve only played Circle of the Moon. Just beat the Necromancer, good game.
I`ve seen Symphony of the Night on PS1 used for 25$...not worth it. It should be like 3$ with those graphics and considering its old.
Fear Effect on the Ps1 is 4 Discs and is out for 2$.

Yes, that one was incredible. They need to bring back the ones that did it (Konami only published it).
2. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS) –You just can’t help but feel cool while you play this game.
I need to burrow my friend's PS again...
3. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (DS) – Not the Dawn of much, but an almost prefect Castlevania game. –Just needed to be longer and drop the colorful new anime look.
I didn't think the anime look was that bad (at least Soma stopped looking like a girl), but yes, it should have been longer.
Oh yeah:
DracSoma's laugh is the coolest ever. Dmitrii's and Dario's were just plain annoying.
6. Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance (GBA) – Had the tried and true gameplay, but the rest of it sucked.
Sadly, yes. Did they just forget what the GBA could do? And
why did they go back to that crappy midi music? :l

WTF?! Dude, it's a freakin' classic. My friend has the original Megaman game, and it'll sell for $300 now.

Dude, I own megaman 1-8 with 2 extra games on one playstation 2 disk titled:
"Megaman Annniversary Collection".
How much was it: Last year I got it for 20$.
Whoever would pay 300$ for a game who can buy for the cost of 2$ is crazy, unless it`s just for the joy of owning the original cartridge. Then that`s what we call 'Nerdy'.

I have beaten the first Castlevania game but didn't particularly like it. The second I got stuck when I reached the first orb, because I really had no idea what to do. I have also finished one of the Gameboy versions, but I cannot remember if it was Harmony of Dissonance or Circle of the Moon. Who was the final boss of each?

My favorite Castlevania game is the one on GBA with the guy who has the fluffy coat and stuff. Lol

Hello? No mention of the Genesis Castlevania game? (Bloodlines, I believe.) No one? Grr. Sometimes I feel like I live in a world where Sega is forgotten. Oh.
I do.

I heard that was the worst one in the series. Then again, i`ve never heard of Curse of Darkness.

I would consider myself a Castlevania fan although the only one I've actually played through has been Aria of Sorrow.

Um, Dracula.
Circle of the Moon had you enter this warp thing where you fought a massive (and cool-looking) Dracula, who eventually turned into a floating eyeball surrounded by bats.
Harmony of Dissonance was the one that looked like crap, and the final bosses were Maxim (a fellow vampire-hunter), then normal Dracula, who later turned into a huge skull.

I haven't played it yet, but I want to.

Oh, so
that's who he was. It all makes sense now.

Did you fight Dracula in a human-esque form first, then teleport to (possibly?) the moon? The floating eyeball bit sounds familiar.

What was wrong with the graphics?
It was one of the better 2D games on the PSone.

Yeah, his first form was humanoid where he teleported around and shot bats at you. Once you beat that, you could go back and save (you better) before entering the real fight, which sent you into some moon-hell dimension.
