Fire emblem - but it's half RPG half turn based strategy

(For GC: Skies of Arcadia Legends. It does have cursing - really just a bunch of ds - and a small bit of inneundo (most of it you wouldn't notice if you don't think of it), but I do play this game in front of my younger siblings. That aside, I love this game. The storyline's great, with twist and turns, and I live for the part when you get your ship and build a base. The dungeouns were never too hard or too easy, (though the Blue dungeoun is just plain monotonous) and the bosses are challenging. I usually have to fight them a few times before I can beat them. There's also good solid sidequests, the bounties, discoveries, Piastol, and the moonfish, all worth finishing. The moonfish sidequest (intertwined with Piastol) is personally my favorite. The only disapointing part was the final boss(es) were easy.)

i dont like cursing but if its not major in a video game i can get around that fact.trust me i dont mind easy final bosses. i the only final bosses ive won against are in pokemon(sad i know),medabots, and dragon warrior cobis adventure.are all i can think of. i couldnt defeat the final bosses in mega man the 2nd one,and in golden sun.most of the time when i win is when i get lucky unless its pokemon(again i know its sad).

Oh boy, a thread about Rocket Propelled Grenades!

Seriously,

GBA: Golden Sun , Final Fantasy I and II: Dawn of Souls, Lunar Legends, Sword of Man, Fire Emblem, Golden Sun Sequel, Breath of Fire I and II, (in case you finish the first one) and, from what i`ve heard FF6, FF4, and FF5 are coming on the GBA and DS.

DS: Lunar: Dragon Song (Not sure if Advanced Wars is an RPG)

I really wanna see Chrono Trigger for GBA since the graphics would fit it. I want a copy of Chrono Trigger on the go. Chrono Trigger was my fa vorite RPG other than FF7.

Lunar for the DS was one of the biggest dissapointments...I really can't reccomend getting that.

I'd definately suggest Fire Emblem, both of them. Hands down some of the best gameplay you'll find in a portable, great story as well.

Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls is definately a good one, but expect tedious hours of leveling stat by stat in 2 if you don't know what you're doing.

If you like strategy games whatsoever then get both Fire Emblems, they'll last you a very long time. Replay value is through the roof if you've got friends to play against.

And if you wait a few months a graphically remade version of Final Fantasy 3 is coming out...Although I'll always prefer the fan translated original >.>

^ I like the last boss to have a normal difficulty...I like a game that`s beatable. Optional nearly-impossible bosses are better.

To be honest, I can't really recommend any of the RPG's on DS/GBA out there, except for Golden Sun: Lost Age.

Also, Fire Emblem is decent, but I recommend borrowing from someone, or something like that. I used to own Fire Emblem, and believe me, I loved that game. Although, once I beat it for the 20th or 30th time, it was no longer fun. The only interesting thing to do was to fight in the link arena, but even that has its limits. I'd like to take this moment to say that Nino still rocks hardcore in FE, though (lol)! But seriously, though, I wouldn't buy it unless someone else you know has it. I can't really speak on the second one, though, mainly because I didn't want to play it after I played the first one. But I think it's safe to say it's just about the same as the first one, though.

-Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga: GET THIS. NOW. It's not too difficult, is very fun, quirky humor, unique control, great bosses, etc. My only problem is that it's a little short for an RPG (average 16-18 hours), but it's not to bad. Great game, trust me.

-The Fire Emblem games seem good (though they're not my personal style).
-Final Fantasy I and II: Dawn of Souls
-Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

For DS:
-Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrows isn't exaclty what you'd expect of an RPG, but still VERY good (I just noticed something: Dawn of Sorrows = DS! :D )
-Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time
-Final Fantasy II, perhaps?

with final fantasy is there a reason to follow the series?

I wouldn't recommend Fire Emblem to him. It's among my favorite series, but it is overall quite challenging. And he has already said that he didn't like difficult final bosses.

Although, once I beat it for the 20th or 30th time, it was no longer fun.

20 or 30 times? Couldn't you say the same thing about virtually any game?
Yeah, if I played through the same game 30 times, I would probably get tired of it too...

with final fantasy is there a reason to follow the series?

I don't really understand your question.

I've beaten other games a lot of times, and I didn't seem to have a problem playing them again. Also, to get 100% of FE, you *have* to play through it a crapload of times.

I think I understand. He`s asking if he should play every FF in order to understand the story. My answer: NO! None of the straightforward FFs have connected storylines. FF 4,5, and 6 are coming to GBA 2005,2006.

Other than FF6, all the really good games of Final Fantasy are for Playstation or Playstation 2.
I`ll give a prhase to accosiate each one.

FF1: Classic but the characters don`t have personalities and the plot is weak..
FF2: This game has a good plot with good characters but isn`t as good as the first overall.
FF3: Haven`t played. It`s not in America.
FF4: I only played this game for about an hour and it may be really good, but i never played it. Coming soon for GBA.
FF5: Just like the original but with characters and a plot.
FF6: Great plot, great characters, best game in SNES probably next to Chrono Trigger.
FF7: BEST.GAME.EVER.IMO.
FF8: Almost as good as FF7, with a better plot.
FF9: Mixes elements of old school FF and new school. (Old- one through six, New- 7 through 10). Good game.
FF10: My favorite PS2 game, but watch out, religious problums.

I hope that helped, but they arent for GBA or DS so i guess it`s sorta off topic.

Oh...uh...er...oops...
I must have missed the gender icon. Sorry about that.

You could try the Breath of Fire games. I've never finished either of them myself so I can't comment on the difficulty really but they are solid RPGs.
