Anyone here watch xplay? what do you think of it? i love the show myself. i've watched it since the extended play days when adam was co-hosting with kate botello.
i really think they do a great job reviewing games. the reviews are very fair and unbiased, in my opinion. before buying a game i check to see how adam and morgan rated it!
i also think the show is really funny. the 2003 non-denominational holiday gift guide was the funniest episode. my roommate and i were watching it and she literally fell out of her chair cuz she was laughing so hard.
so what are your opinions?

I like G4TV in general for the games. What I don't like is the constant cussing and inappropriateness and very liberal views I seem to find on most of their shows (I'm about ready to attack "Attack of the Show").
I prefer Cinematech, since it's just what I want... games!!!

i gotta say, while xplay is more on the entertaining side, i tend to prefer judgement day as far as actual reviewing goes, they tend to be more objective about what they're doing and they not only review games, but updates in technology (controlers, etc.)
not only that, but i really don't like all the profanity, when all i want is a game review, but hey, that's just me
adam and morgan can be funny when they want to be, im just not hip to all the cynicism(sp?), not to mention the strange infatuation adam seems to have with the loincloth on alphonse elric's suit of armor *shudders in terror*

I love X-play. And here's the scary thing...the only games I've really played are Crash Bandicoot and DDR. hehe. I know, I'm strange. Also AOTS is so funny! They have great tech reviews.
It is ironic that the times when they're not being profane are the times when they're the funniest.

It's okay. He scares me too.
Did you see that one segment where they read the fan mail, though? I think it was on that same show. The screaming intern was so funny. I was practically rotfl. oi. That was a good one.

i dont like their grading system...
instead of being x/5, it should be x/10 so they can be more thorough
4/5 is like the majority of games they review... O.o
everything else is good!

Personally, I deeply loathe G4. I really really miss the Screen Savers…well, at least Call for Help is back. I'm another one of those extremely bitter geeks from the G4-Techtv merge.
Anyway, back to topic on games, X-play and Icons is about all I ever watch now.... if anything. While I find X-play entertaining, I stick to Gamespot’s more professional reviews. That's just me, though.

X-Play is probably one of the best shows on G4, but I don't usually take too many of the reviews to heart. For reviews, I like Judgment Day (the 10 point system is more exact). But I do love the skits on X-Play, especially the RE4 Merchant sketch (THEY'RE CUPCAKES!)

I feel your pain... i feel like barfing when watching g4... it no longer appeals to the "techy and gamers"... instead now just the newer gamers who are like "OHEMGEE-ZORZ! T3H GTA SAN ADREAS IS TEH ROXX0R!!!!!11"
a lot of the videogame shows stink now >_> and I REALLY miss TSS...

....yeah, it really gives games (and gamers) an even worse name. Reminds me to much of the junk on MTV. -_-
RIP TSS.

Bitter TechTV geek here...
I hate G4 and all it stands for (you think its really about games? Right...)
I'd always loved X-play, by the way. I found their reviews to be pretty balanced, Morgan isn't as stuck up as the average game reviewing crowd, and while Adam (or at least the character he's sorta playing for the show) disses a lot of games I like, he doesn't come close to how annoying the short guy on "Judgement Day" gets... That guy needs to get the stick out of... Oh, look, a hummingbird!
Anyhow, the only good show on G4 is cinematech. No politics, no whining, no MTV angst and strippers and porn stuff... Just games (ok, so some of the games themselves have that stuff allready, but we don't need any extra!
I can't believe that when I go back to my TV, I won't have TSS... That was my favorite show on TV... Well, that or Tru Calling...

I have only seen it a couple of times but I really liked what I saw. It is so sarcastically funny, and its awesome how they brutally rip apart crappy games.

I like it. I don't care about the language. It's not worse then what hear at my school. I like how Adam uses metaphors to describe crappy games. And It's funny because he hates Xenosaga. I'm not a big fan of turn-based rpgs either.

Xplay is about the only decent thing left since the merger. ATOS just seems to be a bunch of geeks getting to play on TV (occasionally interesting and informative, but mostly junk). It's good to see Call For Help back, but it's difficult to watch any of them because of all the commercials for the garbage G4 is pushing (The Man Show, The Whip Set, Happy Tree Friends).
Xplay has fallen victim to some of the G4 junk, but it is very little, so it's still watchable.

Yeah, I love X-Play! I just started watching it last December, when I started getting G4 on my cable. Their reviews are funny, and informative. Their characters are great, too. And Morgan Webb keeps getting more attractive all the time...
To the extreme!!! To the max!!!
Yeah, I can also see G4 going downhill. And I really wish they wouldn't fill up every commercial break with garbage. Still, for some reason, I keep watching the station.
I also like Judgement Day. I've been watching those guys for like 6 or 7 years.

wow lots of you watch judgement day... i never could get into judgement day. one of the guys on there is really harsh and rips apart games for stupid reasons, thus lowering the scores of good games... cuz of that i dont watch that show very often.

I have to ask, what good games has X-Play ripped on? I can't think of too many occasions where I haven't agreed with the games they rip on.

I thought it was funny when they ripped xenosaga 2. U.R.T.V.S The Y-data. Kids carrying firearms check.

Yeah... The short guy on Judgement day is a royal donkey... Gah, he annoys me more than anyone on that network other than stripper guest stars and everyone in Gphoria...

I watch it every now and then, but I can't stand Adam Sessler. I mean, the man is paid to perpetuate the stereotype that guys who like videogames are unattractive morons. He's just too dorky.

I have to admit, Adam and Morgan both annoyed me at first. But I kept watching the show, and now I can't stop. @_@

I don't mind them too much, I think somtimes they are obnoxious though. I caught an episode the other day where they tore into fans of wrestling games and wrestling in general. Perhaps it would be wise not to bash people who watch your poorly written show? *shrug* Thats just me I guess. Its ok though, because someday I will get a steel cage match with Adam.

Yeah, they can go a little overboard sometimes. I always thought it was funny when they bashed wrestling, personally. But that's just me.

Throughout this whole thread you have been pointlessly bashing Xenosaga for no reason. This is a thread about X-Play and apparently you just don`t understand that. I personally find Xenosaga an okay game, but its nothing to write home about. Xenogears, which is basically a prequel for PS1 is one of my favorites. If you don`t like turnbased RPGs then fine........uh....who cares?
Anyways, back to the topic. I Only have channels 1-99, so I only watch Xplay at my friend`s house and man is that a funny show. I don`t mind that Adam makes fun of stuff I like as long as he makes it funny.

I hate this show now. I used to like it, but I hate it so much. They never seem to miss an opportunity to bash, roast, or in other ways make fun of just about any game that isn't American in origin. Anybody notice that? Surely you've seen their horrible jokes at the expense of games like Magna Carta, any Final Fantasy game, or (most recently) the new Beatmania game.
My current gripe comes from their review of Beatmania for PS2. All they did was make fun of the game and compare it to Guitar Hero, calling it a cheap rip-off, then they gave it a pitiful score of 2 out of 5.
Now, anybody with knowledge of Bemani games knows that Beatmania has been around since PS1. Also, they'd know that Guitar Hero itself is notoriously similar to a little game called, oh I don't know, Guitar Freaks!! I've known about Guitar Freaks since I was in high school and the game has about 11 or 12 mixes now. Guitar Hero is now working on it's first sequel.
Problem? You bet there is!
