camping vs. not camping

I find myself bored when I try to camp. I guess it just goes against my inner feelings of chivalry when it comes to FPS'...what little I have...but ah, well.
What's your thoughts?

I Dont play enough FPSs to have a good opinion, but in the ones that I have played I usually run around and get shot, staying still is boring (although safer)

Yeah...whenever I play Planetside at my cousin's house, I just park myself in front of the spawn tubes and shoot at whoever comes out...
It may be cheap, but you can't deny the fact that it is somewhat effective

I personally dislike campers whoose main objective is to kill players who are coming in spawn points. The only reason why I would camp is when I am sniper (which is most of the time) but as well I do a alot of moving even when I am sniping.

No. I hate camping, it's VERY boring. If my team is losing and it's a close game and I'm playing particularly crappily that day, I will so that they can have a chance at winning, but other than that, it's not something I do.

(If I'm running base defense, then I most definately camp. If I'm doing offense (which is a very small chance, since I excel at base defense) I don't camp. I really only do it when common sense applies. I.E. If I'm defending something, I like to pick myself a spot and not move unless circumstances require.)
(Unfortuantley, I don't get to play those sorts of games alot. The only time is really Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, wherein I usually get the flag, since my brother's much better at base defense in that case (rocket launcher + unlimited ammo = power).)

Yes, spawn killing is the bane of all right thinking people.

Campers in FPS's pwn j00r bu77 f001. j/k, I kind of think that campers can camp and that people that dont camp dont camp. I mean, personally, I think camping is boring and I dont really do it almost at all. There is my somewhat opinonated opinion.

Running and gunning anyone in my way is my style.
But on games like BF2 you NEED to use tactics like that to survive. An waiting 20 second sometimes feels like a lifetime.

I have NO objection to camping whatsoever... it may be a "cheap" tactic... but it IS a tactic... part of getting good at the game is to take down campers.... it's not THAT hard (well in CS anyway) or maybe im just that good XD
just make sure to look at all corners

I don't camp, I guard the flag. With a shotgun and a rocket launcher.

camping is looked down upon on most servers that I play on, and often players who camp (without doing any actual sniping) end up being kicked/temp banned from the server. It really is recognized by the majority of the FPS playing world as an offensive/a noobish tactic.

camping is a legitimate form of warfare

1. I'm not American, so staying stationary is ok.
2. When I play FPSs I tend to camp - though not at a spawn point because that's just plain mean.
3. I have an inherent dislike of multiplayer FPSs because they just go through the repetitive cycle of 20 seconds of living, get shot, wait another 30 seconds to respawn, 20 seconds of life, get shot,....

I don't camp. I don't get the chance - I'm always looking at the camera panning away from my dead body and listening to the beep of the respawn countdown. Then I get capped in the head by a camping spawn killer and the cycle begins again. Sometimes it's no wonder why such horrible language is used by online gamers.

Did I ever tell you I think you're awesome? Well, I am now. Especially after a statement I can all too well familiarize myself with.
Good to see you posting n_n

In Halo, I try one of two strategies.
1. Snipe the fools head off.
2. Melee there block off.
Yet, when I am going aginst sparten1056, he manages to get behind me and plant a plasma granade on me. I die real quickly aginst him. Stupid monkey hobit!

i think spawn camping is lame, but base defense camping is nescessary,
IE counterstrike,
say you are in cs_office, your objective is to kill the CT's before they take your hostages, so, you are supposed to stay in a certain area....

i guess my oppinion is that it kinda depends on the situation like if u r playing really high ranked ppl camping is a good thing sometimes but it still can be very cheap

its true I can be brutal at times.
but anyway. I hate campers. its even worse when they think they are the best players on earth when they do camp, and kill you every 5 seconds. the only time I think you should camp. is when you are protecting you base, and when you are a sniper. protecting the base in Halo 2 is realy the only time I camp. I just park my self next to the flag with a shotgun, and a blasma gun. but that is the only time I do it. but it is realy fun when you force campers to move. then they just curse you out, when you pop them in the head.

I never camp. I'm like... super-rush-neko-man!
heheh
I seriously hate camping, though. I even rush on cs_office on cs(s) while I'm a T.

I have mixed feelings on this. For the most part i never camp, and I have no problem with people that do because most of the time I can take them out. If you're snipering, I guess camping can be fun, but I'm not a sniper person, I'm more of a run in with the shotgun and take out armies of men at a time kind of player =)
So I'm not really going to vote because I feel neutral about camping. I personally don't do it but some really great video gamers do.

A camping is a legimate tactic, but it is frowned upon when it slows down the game. If you camp in a game of, say, BF2, then it won't matter much because there are bonuses to it as well as losses. However, if you're playing CS where the round length time is determinded by how long you stay alive, people are going to complain if a game is needlessly dragged on for too long. This especially is so when you spawn camp, because that'll make the game last even longer as it'll become a "fortress" situation.
Of course, eg in CS, if terrorists spawn-camp in cs_italy then that's completely valid, for that's the whole objective. But if terrorists spawn-camp in de_dust then there's something seriously wrong. It's all a matter of gameplay and rules. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's a complete violation of the gaming etiquette.
Remember: It's only a game. No need to throw your keyboard at a camper.
