Snake

OLD!

What is Hideo doing!? T_T At this rate, Solid Snake will not be in MGS5! If they don't END MGS for Snake being so old in 4! Come on! Snake's aging way faster than everybody else! T_T Snake was the absolute coolest franchise character ever... and he's going to die of old age soon... possibly even ending MGS for good.

... I'm gonna go hide under a rock now...

That was what I thought about Lara Croft back when I owned Tomb Raider. People should think about their characters ages when they make long running series...

it acctually makes sense because big boss was young in the sixties and that seemed more modern probably before snake did him in.

But.... I thought Snake was born in like... the 90's... and... He's so cool!

Ya know there is a MGS thread that's not that old I posted in it like 3 days ago.

1972 to be exact. Remember he and the other Snake brothers actually age faster because Big Boss was in his late 50's when he was cloned. Solidus was the first and was infused with some kind of rapid aging genes or something.

Think about also that Metal Gear Solid took place in like 2006, MGS2 in 2010 around, so already Snake is at least in his 40's, albeit with a body that's probably 60 something. It's still Snake what's the big deal? Actually this will probably be Kojima's last Metal Gear that he will at least direct. Maybe not I mean that's what he's said twice now, but all signs are pointing to that since Snake is about to kick the bucket, and this is a good setting for the "final climax" if you will. Doesn't mean anymore Metal Gear games but probably the last "Solid" one.

Actually, MGS2 took place in 2007, now people are assuming MGS4 takes place 3-10 years after that.

Now, the reason for Snake looking so old can be explained quite simply.

Remember in MGS2 how Solidus aged more rapidly than Solid and Liquid? And "Liquid"Lot (Ocelot) said to Solid "You're looking older." when they met up in 2.

Thus, it can be assumed that Solid's rapid aging has finally kicked in, thus the grey hair and stache. So it's not that the game takes place a long time after 2, it's just he's aged much more rapidly. I mean, look at Otacon, besides the 5 o clock shadow he looks pretty much the same.

Pretty simple ne?

Actually no it didn't. MGS was in 2005. In a codec conversation Campbell says something along the lines of "...In Zanzibar Land, 6 years ago...." Now we know that was 1999 so add it up and it's 2005. Now let's go further here, Snake was in the Army Special Forces in the Gulf War in 91. He was "born" in 1972 so that would make him 19 years old then, thus Snake was 33 at the time of Shadow Moses. The first part of MGS2 then would take place in 2007, when he was 35. And the Big Shell portion of MGS2 would take place in 2009 and he is 37. So now to determine what year MGS4 takes place...

Snake's old fart genes are starting to kick in like I already pointed out so that's not a real indicator of his age after 37. Anyway in the promo art pictures with all the characters lined up Raiden is holding a baby, Olga's obviously, and the baby can't be more than two years old by the size of it. Olga's baby was very young at the time of her
death
so this probably takes place only 2 years at least after MGS2.

It really didn't take that much time to find out this info. I just needed clarification on a couple years and it fell into place easily from there.

Yeesh...I really need to go back and play MGS2 again if I'm that rusty...

Either way though, I'm still speculating if it really is Snake...In the concept art he has the stache, but doesn't look NEARLY that old. Then again I supposed that's why it's concept art eh?

I'm still wondering who the REALLY old guy in the C.A. is...Big Boss?

Hideo must like the Rock or something. He hired the guy who did the soundtrack and Big Boss looked like Sean Connery. Now Snake does. I don't care for the 'stache, but maybe they are in style in the future. Well, at least the mullet’s intact and he is not balding. Seriously though, I think it's cool that Snake's older. Kind of sad, this may be Snake's last one.

Anyone seen the trailer for this game? Aside from being an advert for the Cell Processor, it was just amazing. These are defiantly the best graphic I have ever seen in a game and this isn't that pre-rendered crap.

I just cannot wait for this game, but they should take their time.
I hope Snake gets to stick it to the Patriots. By the way, didn't the real Naomi Hunter disappear in the Middle East? If so, that could be her... I'm wondering if this will have anything to do with Liquid's history in the Middle East.
This game is the only reason I need to buy a PS3.

One thing I want to clear up...

There`s Metal Gear, Metal gear Solid, and Metal Gear Ac!d as far as series go right? Just checking.

Who cares is Solid Snake is old in the games to come? (If he is in the games to come).
Anybody play Splinter Cell? He`s old and he`s still cool. Cooler than Snake IMO.

Pretty much. There is also Mear Gear Solid: Ghost Babel, which is kinda' a spin-off story like Ac!d. -It's a great game, by the way.

As for who is cooler, we'll see after the Splinter Cell 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4. Sam's Voice Actor (Michael Ironside) is a hard one to beat though, I must say.

It's not the fact that he's old! It's that he's going to die soon!

He's my most favorite and the coolest (imo) franchise character EVER... and he's going to die.

This is a sad day in the world of video games.

They could make the rest of the games in a matter of a three year timeline....

Did any of you notice how he injected himself in the trailer?

We all found out in MGS Snake had FoxDIE in him, what if it's been kicking in and the injection he gives himself is to temporarily stop the effects?

Oh and about Naomi, take a good look at the concept art with the line of characters, it's DEFINATELY her under that cloak. My guess is that she has some type of permanent cure for FoxDIE.

Only time will tell though.

As long as they end it right, I'm fine. Now, if there's something that bothers me, is what they are going to do after this game. I remember reading somewhere that Raiden is supposed to be cool in this game and we will completely rethink our opinion of him. I'm skeptical on *that*. However, I wonder if Hideo is tired of Snake, so he's going to finish him and continue on with this Raiden 2.0.

On a random note, I wonder if Colonel Campbell will show up... Be cool to see him again, and
not in AI form.
Grr... This thread should be renamed... I actually mentioned what game I was talking about in the title... :bang:

If you're going to merge them, at least rename it to show it's about MGS4...

I'd like to mention, the timeline of MG is all screwed up... Any reference that can be used to place something on the timeline is probably a joke. One only need look at the phrase "200 years ago" referring to the declaration of independence, which would place MGS2 in 1976 Kojima just wants to tick fans off, at least the ones who take the games too seriously.

I doubt Raiden would ever be brought back up, unless everyone's opinion of him does a 180 this time, he still has that stigma with him. Snake's old yep and will probably be dead or close to it by the end of this game. But all good things must come to an end, wouldn't want Snake to get overused. This leaves it open for other people and ideas to get in on the Metal Gear story, don't be afraid of change people it keeps things fresh.:thumb:

Liquid doesn't have anymore of a history in the Middle East than Snake does. Liquid was in the SAS and Snake in the Army Special Forces in the Gulf War. And I doubt that's the real Naomi Hunter, she's not even an issue since she was mentioned once and is probably dead. It's the "Naomi Hunter" as we know her for sure.
