Has anyone else played these? They are definitely my favorites when it comes to adventure games, but no one else seems to have heard of them.
Murray the Demonic Talking Skull is one of THE best characters in a video game. Ever.
Too bad LucasArts is too busy making thrown together Star Wars games to make any more...

I am a very big fan of Curse -- I thought the animation and humour were excellent, and I can actually play it in Virtual PC 3 under OS 9 on my Mac without it totally dragging. (It doesn't seem so happy in VPC6.)

I've played Monkey Island 3 before and have number 4 (in 3D!!!!11), but I'm trying to forget 4 so I can play it again.
The humour is great.

I've only played Escape, but I loved it. I like the little pop-culture references and such in it.
Guybrush: Hmm. Brass monkey.
Chorus of Voices: That funky monkey!
A few of the puzzles were a bit far-fetched, but most of them made sense (given that the player had a somewhat warped imagination).

You haven't played Sam and Max x_x...
Well, I guess no one else has played the originals?...
(though the originals didn't have Gary Coleman playing a child gun runner
).

I have the first Monkey Island around here somewhere on a CD pack.
Sam and Max is very esoteric. But I loved it also (and Full Throttle, too).

I played the first Monkey Island, and the whole sword-dueling-with-insults thing was an absolute riot.

I like the 4th one, never really got much out of the other 3 (only played the demos though). Grim Fandango is probably my favourite Lucas Arts game, but that's entirely different.

Odd, I liked the first 3 far more than the last one.
I guess if you don't like it, you don't like it. However, some of the best humor I've ever seen is on the first 2.

But like I said, I've only played the demos of the first 3, so that probably isn't a great indication of what the full versions are like.

Maybe not. It depends on what part of the games you saw, I suppose.
Which part was it, if you don't mind my asking? I wasn't aware demos for the games even existed.

I can't remember. I played the demos around the times the games came out. All I remember is part of the Monkey Island 3 demo. Guybrush Threepwood was on a pirate ship and there was some pirate with a flaming head or something coming to attack. I didn't enjoy the demo much, but there wasn't a whole lot you could do in it. Some good humour but not much.

Yes, the demo for three was actually quite limited. Much more goes on in the real game (and I think part 3 was the best animated).
