The Lunar Series (New Lunar game for DS)

I`m sure some of you CAA members love Grandia. Grandia I and II were both classic games, one originally being on Sega Saturn and one on Dreamcast. They were eventually both released on Sony consoles. 1 being on PS1 and 2 being on PS2. I own both. Then, I hear the Grandia makers (GameArts) made a series before Grandia that was less popular but better with a similar battle engine. Those games were the Lunar series. I never played them, since they were out for Saturn and I think for PS1 as well but one of those rare games. The futuristic style was similar to Star Ocean and/or Xenogears.

Normally, I wouldn`t bring this up but I have two questions:

1) Has anyone here played any Lunar games?
2) Did anyone know there`s a new one the DS?

I`ll give you guys a link for more info. For all of you guys that like RPGs that have DSes, at least give this one a try when it comes out to see just how good these are compared to Grandia.

The original is Lunar: The Silver Star Story I think it`s called.
The new one for DS is Lunar: Dragon Song.

Talking about the DS Jerry Seinfeld Style:

All these names that have nothing to do with the game that have two words beginnig with DS.

Dig Dug: Drill Spirits
Lunar: Dragon Song
Advance Wars: Dual Strike (ok, that is irrelavent)
Final Fantasy: Demented Sloth

It never ends.

I've played both Lunar games and enjoyed them both immensely, though the first one a little bit more than the second.

Oh, wait, there was a Lunar game for GBA, but since it was basically a (bad) remake of the first one, I don't count it, and I've never played it.

I think I might buy this one, assuming it's a new Lunar game and not a remake of number 2 or something. Lunar rocks, and I hope Working Designs gets a hold of the US version. I know WD takes forever and a day to release games, but I don't want to see any other company get a hold of it. The humor won't be the same, and I REALLY don't want to see translation clashes like what Cattle Call did with Arc the Lad 4. I mean, did they REALLY have to change Velhart's name to Verhardt, or Millama to Milmarna? :\ Bleh. I don't want to see Ghaleon changed to Galleon or something stupid like that. This is why I want Working Designs to have it.

But a new Lunar game makes me happy.

EDIT: Crap, looks like Ubisoft got a hold of it instead of WD. Sigh. Well, the humor won't be there, I'm sure of that...but let's hope they went with the pre-established names for people/places.

I`ll pick up the one for GBA since the first is nearly impossible to find.

Out of curiosity how many disks does the first one and the second have?

I'm a huge fan of the Lunar series ... but I really can't imagine one not done by WD ...

Lunar SSS has 2 game discs, and Lunar EB has 3 game discs.

I'm sure it wouldn't be terribly difficult to snag a copy of Lunar 1 PSone online. Ebay is the best bet.

I was wondering when you were going to post a thread about this series...

Anyway, no, I haven't played this series either. The games are hard-to-find but probably not as hard to find as the first two Suikoden games.

At any rate, I am looking forward to playing Lunar: Dragon Song when I get a DS.

My friend was looking for an RPG for DS. He was going for Advance Wars: Dual Strike.
Then all of sudden I tell him about Lunar. He`s all like: "If Tom says it`s an awesome RPG, it`s gotta be great" since he used to play lame RPGs that I won`t get into...

Is the GBA remake of Lunar 1....shorter by any chance or is it two cartridges?..

I'm assuming it's used. As long as it seems to be in good condition (you wouldn't want to end up with an extremely worn game) I would say go for it. Hey, you can never have too many RPG's.

Yeah, the bid raised 20$ in one day so I`m not getting it. What`s better Lunar I or Brave Fencer Musashi? I have to choose between the two on eBay. If I can`t get a good deal is the GBA version acceptable?

Well, from what I've gathered from Lunar fans, the GBA version is generally considered inferior for various reasons: anime FMV cutscenes replaced with still pictures, changes in the battle system, no spoken dialogue, an inferior translation that lacks the humor and sarcasm of the PS version, and so on.
That said, it's all up to you. But the PS version is going to be rare and pricey, no matter where you go...

I have to choose between Lunar and Brave Fencer Musashi. Which one?
