I picked this up for cheap the other day... Does anyone else like this title? It's a bit old now, I understand, but does anyone *gasp* still play it?

My brother worked on it believe it or not...

As far as one player goes, I like The Two Towers better.
BUT!
BUT!
Co-Op is the bomb in this game. It`s what makes it stand out as a great game.
If you played Two Towers, keep in mind this game is a lot harder and it takes more blows to the enemy for them to die.
Two Towers: 2 strikes.
ROTK: 5 to 7 at most except for the ones with health bars above their head.
Or knock them to the ground and stab the ground.
-----------------------Final Thoughts------------------------------
Lotr games are basically some of the few that are actually good based on a movie. After beating this, if you haven`t already, give Third Age a try. It`s a mixture of Return of the King`s combat, and Final Fantasy`s.

You want to play it better....
You take turns when Fighting in 3rd age like in most RPGs because Third Age...um..IS an RPG.
This is Action/Adventure. Unless you already knew that just ignore me.

The Lord of the Rings: Third Age game was awesome! I admit though, battling the same enemies over and over again got tedious and not having many battle options to choose from because you had to keep fighting to unlock them, but overall it was a fun game for me. I usually have the patience for any type of RPG game even a bad one like Star Ocean. That was one poorly put together game, but I played through it, even though I didn't like it.

Ahem. Back to Return of the King, what sort of unlockables are there? And I've heard some things about combos being impossible to pull off. Is that true?
That's awesome, AnimeHeretic!

Yeah, there's combos and all. I thought it was pretty fun, but only rent or get it if it's cheap. It's pretty short and very, very hard in the later stages.

Yeah, I know there are combos.
What I would like to know is how difficult they are to execute. I've heard a bunch of stuff about "you run through the level pretty easily if you do little hacks, but if you try a combo you get your clock cleaned."

I don't think they were that hard. Just memorize some of the ones you find to be useful (the instant kill ones and great and fun to watch, too!
) and start performing them
alot.

Alrighty! Thanks.
What platform are you playing it on, Myoti?

You mean, you
think Star Ocean is bad? Which Star Ocean are you speaking of?
Star Ocean The Second Story: Rules beyond reason.
Star Ocean Till The End of Time: A really good game, but not like the second.
Never played the first if that`s what you were refering to, but that`s only in Japanese so I doubt you were refering to that one. If I were to guess I`m going to assume you were refering to "Till The End Of Time", considering that game is considered the worst in the series.
Just don`t say it was a bad game like it was factual, becuae that was just your opinion.
Back On Topic:
Can you believe who the last boss is and how hard they made him? I mean, I`ve fought billions of orcs and ringwraiths but the hardest boss in the game was:
Gollum
Thanks for the spoiler box, but unfortunately I already was spoiled as to that on another site.
That is rather ridiculous. I would rather have had them do the obvious (even though it meant contorting the story horribly) and have you fight Sauron. It's a video game, so I could live with it. But...
Gollum? That's only on the Frodo/Sam path though, correct?
GP, I didn`t put that in the spoiler bracket for nothing. You might wanna edit that a little. You`re forced to do that level last, though.

Ah, yes. I guess I just assumed that everyone else had already played it. Apologies.

It gave me a good few hours of enjoyment. Nothing beats playing as Gimli. Dwarves rock.

I never use Gimili. Aragagorn and Legolas were my best bets.

Sorry for the misunderstanding and cutting into the post off topic. I was talking about the Star Ocean, 'till the end of time. The voice acting was terrible. The item creation was tedious. Although I know the story was meant to keep you in the dark at times, it was too confusing to follow and they did a poor job of putting it all together in the end. I just played through the game at the time because I was waiting for Xenosaga 2 to come out. Not as good as the first one, but still solidly reliable in terms of battlesystem and storyline. I probably should have done a separate thread for this as I am new to posting in forums.

Aw, I remember this game! Fun times...Anyways, yeah! The last boss is REALLY hard...I beat the game a while back (along with TTT), but I have yet to play Third Age. I don't think I'll be buying it any time soon though. I've been planning on trading in Star Ocean 3 for .Hack//Infection, and then I've gotta get FFVII AC when it comes out, so I'm booked! XD Anyways, yeah, ROTK is a great game! I loved it! n_n
