I have been recently thinking of importing some games from japan and was wondering...
Will they work on my Ps2?
I remember hearing of having to mod the old PSX to play import is the ps2 the same?

You'll need a fliptop & swapdiscs or a soldered modchip.
I went with a fliptop since I not only am horrible at soldering, I dont want to have to pay someone to do it; nor risk the chance of frying the whole unit by short circuiting two traces on the mainboard.
Make sure you really want to mod your system before hand though (especially for a chip), not that it's a problem to put your original case back on (for fliptop) but if you're only going to get a few games, and then be done with imports; consider if it's worth the money.

There are a ton of sites out there that sell the parts needed.
Here's a random one

Depends on how important the imports are... sounds kind of risky to me though, at least with my tech skills (I have to get someone to install memory for me for God's sake...
