You'll know my joy when you see this screenshot.

lol. I did the exact same thing as you yesterday, cept with Tarma.
Hey, you know that you can play Metal Slug online now? I've done it, it rawks. Tested Metal Slug 1-3 + X, only went out of sync like once.

Never heard of Mteal Slug X.

Metal Slug X is a revamped Metal Slug 2. I like it better, actually, than the original. In fact, MS-X is all around my favourite -- 3 is weird, and 1 and 2 are fun but X is just better.
frwl, is that with MAME?
I'm a Fio fan myself

It's with Kawaks 1.54 with kaillera-style multiplayer server support.

Never heard of it. Is that for the console itself?

nope. Kawaks is an emulator and Kaillera is the biggest multiplayer network for several different emulators out there right now (includes even N64, so it's possible to play games like Goldeneye online now too).

Ooh! Sounds like fun. I'd love to try it, but I've had bad luck finding ROM sites that aren't infested with pr0n...

bad luck? sorry, but there is no luck in that area.
Anyways, if you want the Metal Slug series, I have it. like all files, they can be sent via AIM or MSN...

I assume you're implying they all are infested with you-know-what. And yes, I'd be interested in getting that emulator and Metal Slug. I'll catch you on AIM some time.

Looks like Kawaks is Windows-only. Oh well, MacMAME does a good job.

I've beaten all of them using nebula! ^_^. Wow! I had no idea all of you were into emulation!

I have a really good ROM site for NES, SNES, Genesis, Atar, Amiga, C64, MAME, Arcade games, NeoGeo, etc. but obviously can't post it here. PM me if any of you want it.
Oh and Metal Slug is one of the best sidescrolling shooters ever.

Well, that's not so hard of a trick when you have an infinite number of quarters.
I'm sure many of us have beaten a lot of arcade games under emulation because of that.

I can beat any of the metal slug games on only one quarter...

That's cause most threads about it get locked quickly, due to the fact that ROMS are illegal. I'm from the school of thought that if it's out of print, it should be availiable, and in all reality, the people hurt by emulation are the used game sellers, not the copyright holders.
I sat down and went through Metal Slug (the first one) on MAME the other day and beat it and loved every minute of it. Of course it would have cost me about $125, but it was a blast. I want to get the GBA and PS2 versions as soon as I get a GBA and PS2. When I have some more time, I want to go back and get better, saving all the POWs and what not.

Just as an official mod note, what gets emulation threads closed is where people start posting ROM links, or start debating their legality. Discussion of the games themselves or of technical issues with the actual emulators, at least in the policy I try to follow, is okay.
Which reminds me; any exchange or offered exchange of ROMs, just like any other controversial download, should not be done publicly, so no more offer posts, please. I was lax on that earlier.
