psh obviously everyone else knows that its like my personal favorite game ever... but has anyone else actually played it? Just curious, it's quite an old game, but very good and quite popular among the "old school crowd"
is it anyone elses #1 favorite? XD i bet thats quite rare but it would be interesting to find out!
side question: whos your favorite character? mine must be Gogo (or is it ghestal? daryl? maybe even shadows wife???)
mainly because he/she/it could use any other characters attack, mimicing it and such... its awesome to see gogo use tools XD and sword techs lol

WOOOO! Final Fantasy VI!
Not my favorite, but it's in the top ten, I can assure you.
Where to begin? The music was beyond incredible, the graphics were insane for the time, the storyline was intense, the characters (for the most part) were well fleshed out and interesting, the magic learning system rocked...
My only complaints are that you can only summon an Esper once a battle, some characters didn't have as much character development...Gau, for example, had a small scene with his father, but not much beyond that.
The loading times were a pain, but that's only because I have the PS version instead of the SNES version, but that IS all I have, so it is a valid complaint for me.
Otherwise, though, AWESOME game. Mog, Terra, Shadow and Edgar PWN you!

I loved what I've played of it. I need to get a copy of my own since my friend who has it is 2 states away from me now. I loved Tera's theme. So pretty. I haven't secided whos my favorite charachter yet. But I've decided that the one guy is really stupid. He ate something from the realm of the DEAD!!!!!! In every story I've every read that is a big no no. I think his name was Sabin or something. My friend did silly voices while we played the game too so it was pretty fun.

What's wrong with Sabin? He had cool Blitz moves, and...stuff.

Dancing Mad #1-4. Heck ya. (final boss themes for those who don't know)
Of course, the final bosses were a bit, um, different. O_o Yet still cool to go against.
Terra + W Gem + Ultima + Gogo =

WORD to SmartyPants!
FF VI is without a single doubt, my favorite game of all time.
I'm so hardcore I refuse to refer to Sabin as anything other than Mash Figaro.
Give me Tina! Give me Locke!
.... I love it so much, I have the original Japanese Super Famicom version, the SNES (III) version, the Final Fantasy Collection (Jap PS1 remakes which was 4, 5, and 6), Anthology, the original soundtrack, the Grand Finale orchestral soundtrack (beautiful), and a tribal-ish version of amano's picture of magitec armour that I'm getting tattooed on my arm.
Vive la Fainaru Fantajii Roku!
(yes, i know my romaji is wrong, but i don't actually care)
(... i mean Kefka never cared, right? ....)
(okay, i'll stop now)

6 was/is/will be my favourite. It had a perfect mix of everything. the newer FFs bug me in that it takes ages to get anywhere, 10 seems to be the best for that (par the early ones).
My line-up would be
Esper woman (I called her Sera) cause she has powerful magic and esper form rocks.
Cid
Sabin
Cyan
Occasionally I would use the other Esper woman who absorbs magic... but only occasionally. Despite having them as my faves I still maxed everyone at L99 with 9999HP 999MP 255 Atk and every spell in the game... By then it didnt matter what characters I used, everyone hit for 9999 every blow... lol.
For everyone who does not know it.
Vanish cast on enemy, followed by Death/X-Zone is very very good. DIE BRACHIOUSAUR!

whos cid? you cant have cid in your party... (cid is an old man in ff6)
never, ever, ever do Vanish + Death/X-Zone... ESPECIALLY on doomgaze! or else you will be unable to retreive the awesome bahamut magicite... The only other boss that comes to mind where you can do this (without vanish) would be Wrexsoul... but i think you are unable to get the Magicite Alexander.... or do you get it regardless?
and you can steal Economizers (all magic uses 1 mp) and Gem Boxes (changes magic to X Magic, does the spell twice)(i think) from tyrannosaurs and brachiosaurs on the area above the veldt!
and celes ain't an esper woman! she was
artificially infused with magic powers
Oh, yeah. Gem Box, not W Gem. I was thinking FFVII. XP
Yes, now Tera + Ultima + X Magic + Gogo =
In pain are I from hard laughing doing it.
So, I guess "Zero Wing" wasn't the only one to suffer something "belong to us."

I enjoyed this game quite a bit the first time I played it, but could never get into it again. For some reason I liked Edgar, though he wasn't a particularly powerful character (though at the beginning those machines are useful).
Some time ago I ran across a humorous article about Gogo... I'll post it here if I am able.

I`m not going to mad that there is ANOTHER FF thread but every other FF thread has died and hopefully gone to heaven. And plus it`s for FFVI specifically and no other FF. Well, as you know, i`m not a mod -I`d love to be though-. Ok, switch it:
Final Fantasy VI sure didn`t "Suxxors" as you would say. i`m halfway through it though, STUPID BOSS THAT YOU FIGHT AFTER ULTROS AND CHUPON!
The music is pretty good for a Super Nintendo game I guess. I don`t get why it`s so praised. Weren`t there games with better graphics at the time?

Yes, but Japan kept most of 'em to their thereselves, leaving us to hunt down the ROMs or wait for their re-release. -_-

FFVI was one of the last SNES games, so the graphics would be pretty close. There are a few other games that I think have better graphics, like Chrono Trigger and Mario RPG.
The music is amazing and I loved the story. Also quite the nice battle system, with the whole multi-party thing going on and the two overworlds.

I love the divergent pathways too and how you got to choose which to follow first. I only got as far as that town with all the thieves last tiem I played. Was in the process of leveling up. I want to play more. Definatly on me list of games to obtain.

hmm....i've played several classic FF game roms, but not sure about #6 becuse the numbering confuses me greatly since I keep hearing that II is really IV and V is really LXCVII and so on(much sarcasm
). If anyone could sort my confused mind out quickly, I would love them greatly. ^_^

1 was released as 1 in America.
4 was realeased as 2 in America.
6 was released as 3 in America.
So 2,3, and 5 didn`t hit America yet.
FF7 came out. Caused confusion.
They re-released them on PS1 calling each it`s appropriate name.
Except FF3 isn`t here yet. It will be for the DS.
I would love to see an FF6 remake for the GBA with a difficulty level similar to Dawn Of Souls because I think my copy of FF6 is wicked hard or at least the part I`m in. I`d like to catch the whole story.

Has anyone posted since I did? I don`t want to double-post but i`m not sure if anyone has. Ok.
No, it doesn`t matter. I`m not a mod anyway, but a thread specifically for FF6 was a good idea. Although, i did make a thread specifically for old school FF games but that died to so carry on.
I apologize if I doubeposted.

You did doublepost, but it isn't a bit deal.

Tom Dincht gave a good explanation. Because there are two numbering systems, things can get confusing. That is why I support using the Japanese numbering system in all cases unless there is an excellant reason to do otherwise.

Fire Emblem and Dragon Warrior come to mind.
