Ok I know this is an old game..but what can I say? I only own a PSone..anyways.. I am playing Final Fantasy eight...but I am stuck!! I can't seem to beat these two characters (Raijin and Fujin) They always kill me before I can even begin to attack!!! I need some advice on how to beat these guys (My characters are lv 24, 18, and I think 17)

I also know that I don't have a GM called Carbuncle..and I have been told that I should have him by now...I have: Siren, SHiva, The Thunderbird thing, Ifrit and then Levaiathon...but there are like 3 spaces that are empty between the first 4 and Levaiathon... Am I in bad shape?

I am sorry that this is such an old game..and many of you may not remember how to play FFVIII so I am sorry if this is a bother...^_^;

Thanks in advance for any advice I get!

I wouldn`t have minded if youposted this message in The Final Fantasy Series thread made by yours truely. There`s like 500 FF threads now.

It doesn`t mater if it`s old, i`m plying through an RPG called Chrono Trigger that is 10 years old (and is wicked good, by the way. you can get the rerelease on the Psone in a package with FF4).

You fight Rajin and Fujin more than once...and they get harder each time.
Are you talking about the one in Balamb Hotel?

I am going to try to sound nice Tom. I have noticed that you are pretty snide to people on the gaming board. I don't think I need to remind you, that most of the FF threads on the gaming board were started by you...so lecturing others about where to post is rather...ironic. Your not a mod or admin...so don't act like one. Don't run around policing others. Ok?

As far as Fujin and Rajin...yeah, I missed Carbunkle my first time through the game...you don't need him to win the fight though. Just level up. Go somewhere where you can fight and go up a few levels and try again. Leveling always helps.

Ok...I felt like helping ya Christianronin so I went to gamefaqs and grabbed this. It is just a snippit that explains how to win that fight.

[quote="Taken From Gamefaqs.com"]This is a pretty tough battle if you're a beginner. Fujin's fairly
harmless]

Ugh sorry Shatterheart but i have 3 FF threads and it was wasted because other people on the site were like: You start too many FF threads when it was my third one.

The Final Fantasy Series
Final Fantasy VII: Armed and Actiony
Final Fantasy: In The Begining

That leaves 473. Yeah, I started most of them alright.

How do you become a mod? Is it free? I know I`m not experienced enough, i`ll have to at least be here for a couple years and have 2000+ posts, right?

First off being sarcastic is a sure fire way to never be a staffer. My point stands, don't bash others for where they post when you yourself are not the perfect poster. (One thread would be enough for Final Fantasy discussion, not a thread for everytime you have somthing to say about Final Fantasy) As far as being a mod, they are chosen by the staff. Post count is meaningless...its about being called by the Lord to do it.

Sorry. That sorta stinks, i would`ve liked to become a mod someday.

How is it being God`s call if the Staff chooses it for you?

CR-chan, you are currently playing my absolute favorite game!! I just picked it up last year (April, I think...anyways!), so it's not too ancient! ^_^ Besides, it's such a great game anyways...

Ok, on Raijin and Fujin...You can draw a GF from Fujin called "Pandemona." Great asset to your party, don't miss it! Be sure to use Thunder attacks on Fujin, and wind attacks on Raijin. Basically, you can draw Aero from Fujin and use it on Raijin a lot. Do the same with drawing Thunder or Thundara from Raijin to use on Fujin. Once you've K.O.'d Raijin, you can use Quezacotl (the thunder GF) to knock out Fujin.

Also, how well do you understand the junction system? If you junction a lot of magic to the HP of your character, you'll have a much higher HP than you normally would if you didn't have anything junctioned. You may have heard that it is EXTREMELY helpful to draw 100 of every kind of magic...THIS IS VERY TRUE!! It helped me A LOT when I figured that out! ^_^ So basically, the more of a certain kind of magic that you have junctioned to a character's stats, the higher that character's stats will be. (It took me 5-6 months to fully understand the junction system! XD)

Example: Squall

Let's say you have cura junctioned to Squall's HP (2000). Now, say you have 32 curas.

2000 HP: cura - 32

Now let's say you had Squall draw 30 more curas during a random battle. You'd have 62. This would automatically make Squall's HP much higher than it used to be. The key to having the most HP, MP, ATK, MAG, etc. is the amount of magic you have junctioned to that certain stat. Also, it depends somewhat on the strength of the magic you have junctioned...For example, 100 Firagas would be much more effective than 100 Fires. So, try junctioning more magic onto your characters in order to raise their HP, and Raijin and Fujin won't be able to kill you so easily! ^_^

Now, about the GF's: It sounds like you're missing a few that can still be gained. Remember the Tomb of the Unknown King that you went to during disc one (near the end, while you were in Galbadia)? The GF Brothers can be found there, if you take the time to figure out the maze and puzzles. Also, you should have a Magical (or it might be called "Cursed") Lamp in your item inventory, and if you use it, it should take you straight into a battle with Diablo, another GF. It's kind of a difficult battle, but if your junctions are set up right and your characters are strong, it shouldn't be too hard. I hear the lowest level to fight him at is 11, so you're in good shape. Just watch out, since he's leveled up too. I'm going to give you a link to a GF faq I found on Gamefaqs.com...it should be helpful to you, if you want to use it! ^_^ http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/final_fantasy_viii_na_guardian_force.txt

Okay, well I hope my advice helped! If you've got any more questions, just pm me or whatever! ^_^

I love this game too. Started playing it last year as well. I missed Carbuncle the first time too. You can actually get any GF you missed in the final Dungeon if you do things a ceratain way. Fujin and Raijin are tough. Good luck. Oh Raijin doesn't like to hit girls. So if you have a lot of girls in your party it really helps.

I should warn you that in FF8 levelling up does not help one bit. The enemies power is linked to your level. If you're L1, the enemies are all L1 and only use stuff like Fire and Thunder. If you're L99, the enemies are all L99 and they use Firaga and Thundaga.

You should get 100 of every spell.

Junction healing style spells to HP, whichever is your most powerful (Curaga-Cura-Cure) etc.

Junction Powerful attack spells to Atk (Firaga / Ultima etc.)
Junction something like Haste to your speed

Junctioning in general is just pick a stat, if you have a spell that boosts that stat (Haste --> Agility) and you have enough of it (read: 100 all the way) junction it to the right stat.

When it comes to the GFs. Generally choose a GF for each character and leave it at that, dont swap GFs around. When a GF stays with one character for a long time, it likes him more, so its attack is more powerful. In my FF8, Squall's link with Diablo was 100!

If you don't have 100 of every spell on every character. Take some time to go and get as many as you can. It's very annoying and time consuming, but in the end it is worth it.

Especially for Ultima.... *drool* It boosts any stat up to max (did for me anyway), but I chose to put it on Elemental Defense.

Hey CR, FFVIII may be a little old for the FF francise, but its still a great game!
Though some considered the GF and Junctioning system to complicated, I thought it to be one of the most fun systems thus far in a FF instalment.

Anyway. Skynes has some good advice, not just about junctioning your magic, but also junctioning it to the stat that best reflects its power.

IE: Junstion MBarrier to the Spirit Stat (as Mbarrier protects against magic attacks, it gives an extra boost when Junctioned to the Spirit stat (which is your Magic defise stat)) , and Shell to the Vitality Stat.

Ultima works great in any stat (especially in the elemental defense slot, as it applies to all elements). But by far, the most usefull and second most effective junctioning magic is Meltdown. Draw this spell like crazy when you find a monster that has it. 100 Meltdowns are nearly as effective as 100 Ultimas in your Vitality stat, but one you use this spell for the first time, you will always hold it close to your heart.

What does Meltdown do? Thats simple, in addition to doing some dammage, it has the chance of reducting its targets Vitatlity to ZERO!!! Basically Meltdown lets you topple the mountain of HP that some monsters have in no time flat. Though it may not hit every time, Meltdown works on ALL enimies. No boss is imune to its crippling effects.

Well, I hope I was able to help a little, and happy gaming to you. :thumb:

EDIT: I thought of something else…

Aura. Just like Meltdown, when you find this, draw it like crazy. Aura is another great way to crush your foes quickly.

Here’s how you make it effective: Some peoples gripe about FFVIII is that you cannot access your LimitBreak until your health is at a very low %. Aura remedies this. Upon successful casting, the target character will glow yellowish. This means there is a chance (for a limited time) that their Limit might be available without their HP being low. Unfortunately, this does not guarantee that your Limit Break will come up. But the nice designers at Square added a little feature that can quickly remedy this apparent frustration. Depending on your controller configuration, one of your buttons (during battle) allows you to skip from one character to the next available character in your party. Now if no one is available it jumps back to the character you were trying to skip from… Basically, after casting Aura on your character, just keep hitting the ‘skip character’ button until their Limit is available. Unleash their Limit, rinse, lather and repeat. Add on the effects of Meltdown, and none will stand in your way again. ^_^

When I fought this boss I had 3200 Hp With Squall and about 1000 for everyone else.
Listen, go to Shumi Village and there`s a drawpoint for Ultima, but you`re going to need to start a new file unless you can get out of Balamb at this point of time. If you have the flying garden, you can aceess Shumi Village.

Do the sidequest and Shumi Village, the place NORT was from. You won`t regret it. The GF that you win by doing it saved me on the last boss.

Woah, Michael!? I havent seen you here since... Well... A while... Either I have been totally out of it, or... Welcome back! ;)

And the FFVIII stuff:

I just thought I might mention one of the most useful GF’s you will encounter (no its not Eden…). Its Alexander! Don’t miss your opportunity to Draw this GF out of the sorceress. His attack isn’t spectacular (comparatively) but Alexander is the only GF that can learn the Med Refining abilities. That mean he can help you make your very own Elixirs, Heros, and yes, even HOLY WARS!

Just don’t miss him. You will cry if you do. :waah!:

The only GF that I actually missed was Siren. After that, I checked a FAQ to see which GF I could draw from who so I didn't miss any others.

But I did get Siren near the end so...

I believe Tiamat was one of those mini-bosses near the end that you could draw a GF from if you missed it.

Oh, the ones scattered through Ultimacias Castle? You could draw missed GF's from them? I did not know that...

Siren is SUPER helpful durring the game. There are lots of things you would never see if you didnt get her, and equip her 'invisible-thing-revealing' ability (sorry I dont remember what its called  ).

Yeah, you draw Eden from Tiamat.

All he did was a move called like "Black Flare" or somethingand he would do it twice killing me because each time did 4000 damage. If I could do "Kamikaze" twice he`d be gone. Yeah, so i couldn`t draw Eden because Id never survive.

And Christian Ronin, have you played any other FFs?

Does that mean you never beat Omega Weapon Tom?

Not that I would blame you if you had skiped this optional boss. We was crazy-tough after all. (Tougher then Ultimate Weapon)

I did not know you could get Eden without fighting Weapon. *thinks everyone who did not beat weapon but got Eden is cheap* ;)

The thing about getting the GF's at the end is that they will be at the same level as if you would have got them before.
So, they will be pretty useless unless you manage to level them up a bunch.

Anyway, like Shatterheart, I did beat Ultima Weapon and drew Eden from him. That boss was fast.
I never did get around to beating Omega Weapon however.

I think that I did all of the sidequests/optional stuff except for the card quest thing and Omega.
But I don't think that I want to do the Tonberry thing ever again...

The most frustationg boss to me was Jumbo cactuar.....well, i probably would`nt have beaten it if it wasn`t more that Kamikaze move. That did Heavy Damage.
