Here we go another one of those official Tom Dincht RPG threads.

FFX was THE first turnbased game I ever recieved that I got on my 12th birthday. I was going to buy Unlimited SaGa but picked up FF10 instead because I heard it was tied with kingdom hearts which was a game I really liked. So was buying FF10 a really good decidion. I heard tyhe graphocs were 2d and it was really hard.

( I had FF7, but I really didnt play it until after I played FF10 and realized i had it).

My question is:

Are the games SaGA, Romancing SaGa, SaGa Frontier, SaGa Frontier II, and unlimited SaGa connected in anyway?

The capital Gs were my biggest clues.

Oh boy...the SaGa games.

Worst twenty bucks I ever spent.

I could go into many details about why Unlimited SaGa sucks so bad, but you can't fully appreciate the supreme crappiness of it unless you play it for yourself. I will say this, though.

The AI of the computer is so bad that if you get into a fight and don't attack the enemy, they won't attack you. So if you get low on health, stop attacking, and you'll never die.

Yeah. It's THAT bad.

The SaGa series is Square-Enix's second largest series actually(well, third I think, if you count the Dragon Quest spinoffs).
The series includes:

Makai Toushi SaGa/Final Fantasy Legend (GB)
SaGa 2: Hihou Densetsu/Final Fantasy Legend II (GB)
SaGa 3: Jikuu no Hasha/Final Fantasy Legend III (GB)
Romancing SaGa (SNES)
Romancing SaGa 2 (SNES)
Romancing SaGa 3 (SNES)
SaGa Frontier (PS1)
SaGa Frontier II (PS1)
Unlimited SaGa (PS2)
Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song (PS2)

I haven't had very much experience with the series personally but it's known to be one of those series where you either like it or hate it.
And Unlimited SaGa got some very bad reviews.

Here's a list of some sites/magazines:

RPGamer - 6/10
EGM - 4/10
Gamespot - 4.3/10
Gamepro - 2.5/5
Game Informer - 6.5/10
Gamers.com - 4/10
Official Playstation Magazine - 2/5
IGN.com - 6.6/10
Gamespy.com - 1/5
Allrpg.com - 9.3/10 (what were THEY smoking?)
Gaming-age.com - C/A
Gamingnexus.com - 3.4/10

As you can see, aside from that one site, all other reviews I have seen of the game are either average, or slightly above or below. I would say check out SaGa Frontier I or II if you must, but avoid Unlimited SaGa at all costs. However, I have heard from three separate sites that gave it a bad review that the music is excellent. I might buy the soundtrack.

Oh, and if you want to know how bad the voice acting is, one site compared it to the PS1 version of Resident Evil. Yeah. The voice acting is THAT bad.

Graphics are sort of important.

Like if an RPG has beautiful graphics but crappy gameplay i won`t mind it that much.
If it has crap graphics but awesome gamplay then i won`t care about the graphics.

So if SaGa Frontier`s graphics are bad (which they sort of are) and the gameplayis sucky then SaGa will be ignored by me.
