I was surprised to see the good ol' Genny on people's top ten console lists. I thought there weren't any fans of Sega's 16 Bit Wonder around here, but apparently there are.
So I thought, "hey? why don't we get together and talk about it?"
And here I am.
So what are your top ten favorite games on the system, as well as--in your opinion--the worst game on the console?
1: Beyond Oasis
2: Landstalker
3: Sonic 3 & Knuckles
4: Gunstar Heroes
5: Light Crusader
6: Ranger X
7: Streets of Rage 2
8: Eternal Champions
9: Desert Strike
10: Revenge of Shinobi
And the worst on the system would have to be Barney's Hide and Seek game.
How about you guys?

Ah, the Genesis. Good times, good times...
I thoroughly enjoyed all of the Sonic games for it, though Sonic 3 & Knuckles was definitely the crowning achievement (Super Tails ROCKS!). I also enjoyed Vectorman (great platformer) and Shining Force.
One of my favorites is Ecco the Dolphin. Granted, it was hard as crap...but FUN. Insanely fun. For some reason, the "Open Ocean" level music is forever stuck in my head. Hey, Open Ocean was a weird, hard level, now that I'm actually actively thinking about it...but the Asterix fight was the worst...the Machine was hard too.
The sequel, Ecco 2: The Tides of Time, was okay. Good music, nice graphics...but I didn't like the ending. As a matter of fact, I hated the ending. Well, whatever.
Xmen for Genesis was also insanely hard, but fun.
And I guess for the most part, those were the only games I played that left a lasting impression on me. But they were good games, and good times.
Heh...Good Times.

In no particular order:
1. Sonic The Hedgehog
2. STH 2
3. STH 3
4. Earthworm Jim
5. EWJ 2
6. Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium
7. Comix Zone
8. ToeJam & Earl 2: Panic on Funkatron
9. NBA Jam
10. X-Men
And the worst Genesis game I remember playing is...
Toki: Going Ape Spit. So sue me, I always hated those one-hit-and-you're-dead games.

Vectorman was a great game, wasn't it? I heard Vectorman 2 wasn't half as good, though.
Ah, Shining Force. Man, I wish I could get that. It's $50 at a local game shop and really pricey on eBay, too.
Super Tails *is* the best! Those flickies that follow him around and destroy enemies floored me when I first saw them!
Now Ecco the Dolphin...that was one of those titles I could just never get into. It's a masterpiece, I'll grant you that: it's beautiful graphically, has immersive tunes, and has an overall effect that just pulls you in and holds you there. Too bad it's WAAAAAY too hard.
On a side note, does anyone have a copy of Crusader of Centy they'd like to sell me?
EDIT: SpoonyBard, I'm glad to see Comix Zone on there. I picked it up recently and found a gem. It's unlike anything else I've ever played. (Except for Viewtiful Joe or something.)
And yeah, Toki makes me sick just looking at it. It's so bland! And the one hit kills really aren't any fun, either.

My brother had one, and we spent a great deal of time splattering each other over the football field in Mutant League Football.
I used to think the Genesis was way behind the SNES, but after putting in some more time on it in various ways, there were a lot of great playing and beautiful looking games on it. Earthworm Jim, Vectorman, Phantasy Star, Ecco, Sonic, Comic Zone.

You said it, Righteous_slave. People never give the Genesis the credit it deserves. It had a ton of great games and a processor that blew the SNES out of the water. (I'd like to see Gunstar Heroes or Ranger X on the SNES!)
Altered Beast... That "rise from your grave" is legendary now. I still hear stories about kids freaking out when they heard that on Christmas morning.

Genesis was my favorite system until PS1 came out....Genesis is barely behind it though.
My favorite Sonic game of all time was Sonic 2 and probably my favorite adventure game made before PS1. Best music, hardest bossess and the game that Tails was introduced (Am like the only person who knows that you can play through the game as Tails or Sonic alone. Just wondering). playing as both is kinda annoying vbecause Tails always follows you and tend to distract you.
Anyways, Sonic games and dinosaurs were the main things i was into in Kinbdergarten. Yeah, kindergarten the year I sold my NES for the Genesis and didn`t buy SNES and missed out in FF6 and Chrono Trigger....ah who cares I got both for the PS1.
