I don`t get it...

Back in 2003 all my friends were telling me about the new PSX coming out in stores. I`m like "ok....sounds cool."

So I run home to play FF7 for the 800th time and see a sticker on the box that says "PSX" that I never noticed.

Then I see everyone refering to the PS1 as PSX and PS2 as PSX2......

You guys refer to the PS1 as that two? What`s the "X"?

sometimes people say PSX when they talk about PlayStations(I don't...). but I thought the PSX was that multimedia unit thingy they made that didn't sell well in Japan...

I've never heard of anyone calling it PSX2 before...o_o

It's a common reference, where x is an ungiven number. Like the x86 chipsets, or Windows 9x.

While not far off topic, what does Windows XP stand for?

Very good question. Being an RPer, I tend to think eXperience Points, but that's just me.

.......I hope you were kidding. I`ve never heard such a nerdy joke.
Well it reminds me of the kid who was playing videoagmes for awhile and finally made the decision to get out of his room to find his parents had moved.
Just playin, but i`m guessiong it`s eXtreme Progress.

Without the joke, I believe people were saying it stood for eXPerience, as in, the Windows eXPerience.

Which is the BSoD.

I think Windows "XP" stood for "eXtra Pretty."

(At least that makes since, since it doesn't appear to have changed too much otherwise - rimshot).
