Glitch Moments

Postby Tommy » Wed Apr 27, 2005 1:08 pm

We all have them. Good or bad. Can anyone name their funniest or most tear-jerking glitches they`ve experienced while playing.

My funniest and coolest moment was:

While playing Spyro the Dragon 2 you know how the water controls are different as well as Spyros movement and bubbles trail behind you? Well when I
reached the surface I was still swimming. Bubbles were trailing behind me in Midair and Spyro was paddling as well as Sparx in a bubble. I soon realized this wil probably never happen again so instead of shutting the PS1 off I reached the hightest area. I could go anywhere i wanted.

OH my gosh...Spyro has some INSANE glitch moments....

But I think Halo probably has a few of the coolest ones. One of my friends has a glitch video...I shall find it and post it here, providing I can find it.

Tear-inducing glitch moment:
The year was 1998.
The game was Shining Force II.
The console was Sega Genesis.

The premise?

The battle against Cameela for the Nazca Airship, less than 10 major battles to go in the game.

I'm offing lesser monsters and demons left and right with my highly-levelled up party, just about to go off on Cameela when what happens? The game locks up. Okay, no problem.

I reset my game which was saved just before Cameela's fight.

I go to load my game

THE SCREEN FLASHES RED, THE MUSIC THE GAME PLAYS WHEN DANGER IS ON THE WAY GOES OFF, AND THE BLUE TEXT BOX SAYS "ERROR: NO DATA FOUND."

;-;
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.

That would be a tear-jerking one.

I had a pretty freaky one occur with Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

I had just started a new file and watched the opening cinematic. It hit the point where Link gets thrown from a horse (if my memory is accurate), and weirdly enough, he hit the ground and died. The game went through the whole death sequence. It started over in the grove, but Link was weaponless and every single slot on the inventory screen was filled by a milk bottle. And the dramatic music from the opening was playing out of time. I can't remember if I reset because I was freaked out or if I simply couldn't leave the grove.

I think that the whole glitch took place because the cartridge wasn't entirely in the N64.

And don't even get me started on KOTOR's frequent glitches, or the infamous Missingno code in Pokemon :eh:

Missingno owns.

Any game with ragdoll physics can have death animation glitches, I've seen the most happen in Rainbow Six 3 and Thief: Deadly Shadows; often an NPC will fold in on itself either backwards or forwards and continue standing in place. others may fly through over a ledge and be held back by a hand or foot that anchors them to the top.

Now that sounds seriously creepy, spooky, weird and painful looking.

Maybe it's contortionist NPC's?

In the original Freedom Force, there's a cutscene where you've just defeated Pinstripe and everyone is talking. But for some reason (they fixed the glitch in later editions), on this cut scene, you could right click on people and beat them up while they were talking. So I pounded Pinstripe again (got bonus prestige) and then started pounding on the heroes. Knocked everyone out...

i remember one time i was playing ff7 and i was fighting the ruby weapon and i had just cloud fightin' 'cus the other two had gotten knocked out with the quicksand attack, i was able to get the weapon to retract the tendrils so i was gonna run away, but i kept attacking while i was running away, so i ended up defeating the ruby weapon, so there cloud was, standing there, with no opponent to fight, so i tried to do the retreat again, this time cloud went over to where the weapon was, while facing away and running, so he basically did the moonwalk over where the ruby weapon was so i'm one of the only ppl that can say they danced on the ruby weapon's grave, go figure

i think the funniest glich i ever had was playing nintendo 64, Super Mario.

i was with my friend, and we were walking [Mario] around in front of the castle and then all of a sudden Mario dissapeared and reapeared in the air, twitching. and we were like, "what is going ON?" and then Mario appeared in the ground. His hips down wer stuck inside the ground, and we were trying to walk, and you know how when you walk against a wall, they do taht twitchy spazzy thing? He kept doing that. it lasted for 10 min. Then he just went back to the path normally. My friend and i looked at eachother and CRACKED up. it was the funniest thing ive ever seen.

In FF8 while in a boss battle, characters often changed colors. I wonder why it just happened on bosses and not normal battles.

In 007 Nightfire, enemies tend to randomly run towards walls then fly straight up into the air.

Missingno. I LOVE Missingno. It was just so strangely awesome for no reason at all. And all the stuff about how if you catch it it destroys your game...awesome. XD
My friend claims that you can hit Freckles in the head with the shovel on Animal Crossing and kill her, and then procede to bury her on the beach, which I think is pretty funny.
Think happy thoughts.

I once borrowed Zelda 64 from a friend; they had several save files on it where they had gotten virtually every single item in the game. Of course, my Gameshark ended up deleting every single save file....

I must say that I have so many glitch moments it is not funny. This is owing to the fact that I try to find them. The first day that the new maps came out for halo 2 I found 5 glitches in only 3 hours of play. If you would like to experience these glitchs just PM me. Oh I have to give credit to my friend because we where trying to find the glitches together.

Original Mario on "Mario All-Stars".
Level: 8-2
The area where you can run under a long platform to catch a 1-UP.
I jumped one of the flying Koopas and he fell towards a hole. However, instead of falling the hole, he began walking across the bottom of the screen. O_o
I thought it was cool and decided to follow the little fella, but I think I ran into a Bullet Bill or something...

My cousin gave me a Halo 2 world tour in which he rammed my character outside the play area in three levels and showed me around his favorite sniper spots. With overshields and at least 2 players on a team, you can get really creative in battles, since there are so many awesome sniper spots (although not invincible locations) outside the levels. Just make sure everyone knows how to get there and where they are, or else it can be cheap.

Cheap indeed -_-

*is just mad because A. She stinks at sniping and B. She can't seem to glitch into those places*

However...standing on top of the level on midship and sniping is just cheap.

That is why bungie tried to fix the glitchs. I have never used glitching in Matchmaking but I have used it in custom.

In Grandia 2 for the PS2, my characters tend to turn pale white for some reason.
