Earthbound/Mother

OK, I have to ask.

I *KNOW* that the original Mother and Mother 2 (Earthbound) were released on GBA in Japan, but I had to ask if anyone knew if it was going to come out over here. Earthbound is tied with Suikoden II as my favorite game of all time, so it would just make my *year* if they realeased it on GBA in America.

Also, I heard a rumor that Mother 3 (Earthbound 64) was being realeased on the DS in Japan. Anyone got info about that?

I would love to see the GBA Earthbound released over here. But so far, it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Nintendo already has translations for both games. They've had them for sometime now, actually.

There is one small glimmer of hope, though. If we get the upcomming Mother 3, the previous two games might be unlockables(sort of like how you could unlock the original version of Metroid in Metroid: Zero Mission). Or, if Mother 3 sells well if it's released over here, Nintendo might decide to go ahead and release Mother 1 and 2. Either way, our hopes are pretty much riding on Mother 3.

Well, I hope that something positive happens on the Earthbound front. It's one of about 3 games that I play over and over again (and it never seems to get old...).

I think mother was a better game than mother 2... Well, at least in some aspects... Ninten and the girl (don't remember her name) actually had a dance and the music sounded better on the 8-bit famicom than on the 16 bit upgrade... Mother 1 seemed a BIT more serious than Mother 2, but that may be due to the fact the translation I played didn't work as hard on creating americanized jokes... NOA's translation staff wasn't quite as focused then, I suppose.

It's sad to hear that the Mother/Mother 2 is available by import only.

Also, I knew aboutstarmen.net, but I was under the impression that the site was abandoned, because the last time I went there, it hadn't been updated in over a year.
