You know, I've been meaning to try out this game after playing the demos. Is there anybody that would recommend this PC-RTS game for me? I've played the demos for the first one (a while ago) and recently tried out it's sequel, Homeworld II. Everything seems to have a "grand scale" of things as far as gameplay and the sci-fi plot intrigues me as well.

I'm just curious if anyone here has enjoyed this game well enough to recommend a purchase.

i played it a bit, it was bundled with some other startrek game, i forget. But it's allright. It's cheap, and doesnt take much space, and doesnt require high requirements

I've played through most of the 1st game, it's very good.

I recommend it if you like RTSes.

Homeworld and HomeWorld 2 are the best strategy games out there. In my book, they rank up there with StarCraft.

I would very much recommend Homeworld and Homeworld: Cataclysm. I haven't played Homeworld 2, but I've heard that it isn't as good as the other two.

Depends on what you worship, I suppose.

Still, it would be hard to match the first one. That opening (Barber's Adagio for Strings (sung as an Agnus Dei)), the sense of scale as you see the mothership launch, leaving behind the massive scaffold - it's really very impressive.) sets the stage for a very engaging game. The more operatic part of me would definitely choose the first game even over Cataclysm.

Of course, the other side is that Cataclysm gives you more cool toys, so I reconcile my differences by owning both Homeworld and HW:Cataclysm.

I've played the demo of Homeworld but I found it overwhelming to play (too hard). But I'm sure its lots of fun if your'e into space RTS. As for me I'm sticking with Age of Empires.
