Final Fantasy fans!

Okay, we did this with LoZ, so here's the FF one. I'm just curious, which of the Final Fantasy games is your favorite of all time?

Now, I didn't include these for these reasons:

Mystic Quest: Like anyone would pick it anyway
Legend Series on Game Boy: I highly doubt these are anyone's favorite
Final Fantasy Adventure on Game Boy: Actually a Seiken Densetsu game!

But, I did throw in Crystal Chronicles. Just in case (but I doubt it).

And after you vote, explaining WHY it is your favorite would be kinda nice. I'll start off.

Final Fantasy 6 did everything right, in my opinion. The soundtrack was excellent, the Opera rocked, and the characters were very interesting. I LOVE Terra, Mog, and Shadow. The magic system was simple, in my opinion the best magic learning system in any Final Fantasy. Besides learning spells as you level up, but given the storyline in 6...and Terra and Celes DID learn spells as they levelled up, though slowly. ;)

And of course, who can forget the awesome part where you're on the Floating Continent, the statues are misaligned, and well...if you played it, you know.

So, let's see what you guys like!

It's really hard for me to say. I can't really choose but I chose 7. I used to hate it..mainly cuz I thought it was sorry at first...cuz i kept dyin and couldn't figure it out (my first FF). So I quit playing it and never looked at it again. Then I played X,IX,VIII, then VII. Yeah I went backwards lol.

Then as I got better when I played VII it so owned. The battle, system, the story...just everything was awesome. So I guess it prolly my fav. X is prolly my other fav...well along with X-2 tho. The Romance between Tidus and Yuna is sooo awesome. I love that kind of thing in a game.

I never played any of the earlier ones...so I can't sriticize or like any of them lol. Mainly cuz I had no idea they existed.

I'm predicting this poll will boil down to VI or VII in the end. I voted VII because Cloud and Sephiroth are the coolest video game characters ever. They were pretty much my sole reason for playing Kingdom Hearts.

I dunno...there's a LOT of fans of 8 on this site.

Mine too.

VI was originally my favorite, but I think I'm gonna have to go with IX. Because, in my opinion, FFIX brings the best of everything from the old school and mixes it with the new. The storyline and characters were excellent. The only bad mark I'd give it is the annoying Final Boss.

FF9. Can't beat the beauty that is FF9.

Mine was a close tie between VI and Tactics Advance. VI had wonderful story, loveable characters, but Tactics Advance has depth, adn repaly value. Tactics Advance won out, and it remains the best game I've ever played.

With respect to my avatar and namesake, I voted for FFVII. Of those available for voting, I have only played IV, VII, X, and TA. They've all got some memorable characters, but I think VII just has the best storyline. It's a nice balance between simple and complex, if you dig.

I'm actually fairly new to FF to it's hard to decide! I've only really played 7, TA, and X (almost) all the way through. But 7... 10... both have their own good stories and everything! ....think I'll have to go with 7! It's one of the few times I'll listen to classical msuic it's just too good to pass up!

I picked 10, though in retrospect I could have chosen anything except 6 and 5

OK... It's time for then incredulous, "YOU didn't like VI?!?" weirdos to start in on me...

I didn't care much for 6 either; it was too hard. Too many characters to manage (that didn't automatically level up when not in the party -- unlike in 7). 5 was a little easier, but it still took too long to level up job abilities.

By the way, the very first one is still my all-time favorite. ^_^

I prefered dragon warrior, but you won't find me saying so here. ;)

VI is my favorite. Always has been. I also liked FFTA.

Anyway, I'm writing a screenplay for VI if you guys ever want to look at it. Hopefully it will turn out good. But I LOVE VI. It was just so emotional and the score was beautiful. (I LOVE Nobuo Uematsu.)

Almost forgot about this thread...

Don't worry, oldphil. I don't have any right to bash anyone's preferences after my FFVIII thread.

Though I am kinda curious as to why you didn't like it.

I also see there's a Tactics fan here. W00t! I liked Tactics too!

[quote="oldphil"]I prefered dragon warrior, but you won't find me saying so here. ]
I remember playing Dragon Warrior and walking around for HOURS fighting enemies to get enough gold to buy a suit of plate mail.

That was awesome. :) They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

Yeah, everyone I talk to hates FFTA. I can't understand why... It was just SO COOL!!!!

Mainly it was the anti-climatic nature of the game... And the fact that you have to level up 15 different characters (well, you only need a few, but I have to do all the side quests)... AND the fact that you MUST use a walkthrough to get everything, there's no obvious way to do it.

Then again, it's not nearly as annoying as making Tidus' ultimate weapon hidden behind a stupid mini-game. That REALLY bugged me...

Final Fantasy VII, definitely *_* I first played it five years ago when I was thirteen and it changed my life thereafter. I don't mean to sound melodramatic, but it's true! And FF6 is a close second.

I think all the ultimate weapons in that game had some kind of miny game involvement.

I vote fo FFVII. Despite the fact it's the onlt one I've played, Cloud and Sephiroth are the coolest. I like Yuffie a lot to, despite the fact she stole my freaking gil and materia... The Leviathen was well worth it. The story is awsome and I love the pre rendered backgrounds. Even the MIDIs are quite enjoyable.

I picked 7... mainly cause of Sephiroth ;)

I picked 6. Great story, my favorite FF characters of all time (Locke and Celes...) and a villain who was dancing mad, just like me! Nothing beats the music of thousands of voices screaming in unison at the sound of me singing the opera. There was just so much to love about this game. It was the pinnacle of the 16 bit RPGs. Though SD3 gave it a really good run for its money, FF6 just barely won out. Gotta be the opera. Or Relm... The original kickbutt brat... No, don't say rydia, she sucked... And no, don't say that girl from FF5... And don't even mention any other game that had a similar character to Relm... Relm was the pinnacle. No room for opinion here, I'm being objective. ^_^;

Anyhow, I think FFX was second on my list, and FFVIII was a close third... I really didn't like FF7... It just has no hope... And from what I hear, AC isn't going to brighten it up in the slightest...

FFVIII was great because it wasn't about saving the world, really... That, and I was in love with Julia and Raine and Rinoa, right along with our Heros... Laguna's story made it worth it... I mean, it wasn't the normal FF thing... It was just an honest love story, only a sad one... Despite it being in engrish, I loved "Eyes on Me" I love singing it, Engrish and all... I sorta wished that there was a long CG sequence when they played it, though... Oh, well besides the end sequence, which ties with FFX for best ending to a FF game in my opinion... I watched that end sequence so many times...

Yeah... I'm getting some memories... Like how badly done the translation for 5 was, because it was translated by Woolsy or Woosly or whatever his name was... Argh, me mateys, we gots ta let ya know that she's a pirate in every line of dialogue, argh! Sorry, I played FF5 illegally translated, and the fans did a much better job than woolsy... I think I'm going to get the PS1 version just to own it and download the translated rom (since I will own teh game, it will be legal since it is a SNES game which is obsolete now) I liked most of the FF games except I really don't like 7 very much, and 1 is too hard to play on NES... The PS version is much more tolerable.

Oh, and Mystic quest sucked, FF Legend was also not really FF but a series called "Saga" which is in its ninth or tenth game now... Unlimited Saga I believe was the latest game in this series. Three sagas, three romancing sagas, two saga frontiers (maybe 3?) and unlimited saga... The series, like FF, reached its peak at game 6.

<opinion>The computer version of FF7 and I'm guessing FF8, even though I never played that one, sucked... Well, mostly just the music.</opinion> The music was not meant to be midi... I mean, the sephiroth battle was missing the vocals... <opinion>That's a travesty... That's the best feature on FF7... </opinion>It was the first FF game to feature a full choir song, among other firsts... <opinion>I mean, I don't like this game much at all,</opinion> but take away sephy's choir, and you can just shoot me now.

I so like FF7 the best, i thought the materia system was great, compared to say the FF9 system, i didn't like it, the GF system was kinda annoying how you had to keep using something so much for it to stay descent, than made so much of the game mindless GF fests. The gameplay, story and characters from FF7 all ruled, plus it was the one that made the genre popular and the first one to introduce great graphics, (i also like what i've played of FF6 but i've not got very far) I want to play FF10 but have to get a PS2 first

'Aria di mezzo caraterre'. The Opera song in FF6. I believe I need not say more.

It didn't matter if the game involved you learning the lyrics, because you'd memorise at a heart beat once you listened to the song.

Don't make me choose...:P Well while I'm a big fan of FFVI and FFX I had to choose FFVII overall because it did everything right back in the day and revolutionized RPG's in general.

Yarr! VI. I mean, a thief with identity issues. ("I'm a Treasure hunter!") a Villian who wants to destroy the world for no good reason ("Vwahahahaha") A king who wishes he was a ladies man, The Wild Kid who has a wonderful way with words (*jumps about* "Thou thou! Thou thou!") I mean, the whole finger waggle thing is great ^^

Yes, VII had it's dark brooding storyline.. but I guess I couldn't get over the graphics... Gimmie the 2d 16 bit stylized! (plus I really hated when Cloud dressed up as a woman..)
