New Thin PS2

Apparently Sony has decided to do the same thing to the PS2 it did with the original Playstation. The new model is much thinner and smaller, and has a pop-open CD drive (like the PS1). It will retail at $149. See this link for more info, comparison pictures -> http://game-science.com/news/000763.html

I can't wait for this to come out in America.

That's kinda cool but obviously only worth buying if you don't already have a PS2. Maybe they'll make an LCD Screen to go along with it too and try to sell it like they did the PS1?

The new PSX model looked pretty good, but that.....

No. Just no. Too stinkin' thin. Looks like it got ran over by a steamroller.

The new PS2 (PsTwo ;) ) looks pretty cool. If my old PS2 ever breaks down, I will get one. In the meantime, I'll be eagerly awaiting the PS3  .

Exactly. I need to save up and get my hands on one of these. Star Ocean 3 is calling me, as well as numberous other RPGs. Heck, I have $47 right now. I might as well put it away and keep saving up and buy this as soon as I have enough. Need... More... RPGs...

This has been confirmed.

It will have an integrated Ethernet port for network gaming, removing a consumer's need to purchase a separate Network Adaptor to go online. Dialup users needn't worry, however, as Sony estimates that 40% of its North American players connect with an analog modem (with the rest using cable, DSL, or other forms of high-speed Internet). And it's more than enough reason to include a built-in dialup port for the SCPH-70000 as well -- which it has.

But there is one little problem that has also been confirmed about the new PS2.

It has also been confirmed that some software will not be compatible with the new unit, but what those titles are have not been revealed.

I imagine it would be first generation Playstation games. I recall reading somewhere before PS2 was released that there were a dozen or so uncompatible games. Just a guess but we'll see.

Yeah, if it is that. Then that wouldn't be bad at all really.

No, they should make the x-box bigger... Call it the "X-Cubicle" Your whole office could play Halo on this network and internet server stack size console, and it could store frosty beverages too. And snacks... It would be perfect for the casual gamers who are too lazy to file paperwork and balance the budget for the company... And it should run on a Mac and look all nice and pretty. A G6, but dedicated for gaming and refridgeration and MP4 playing. Or WRCMA playing (ok, that's not quite the effect I was going for... how about) WCA playing... Still no one will know what I'm talking about... Anyhow, It should be a mac system running linux and a nice refridgerator and personal massage center. For the casual gamer at the office.

ok... I'll shut up now

I hate this new PS

I hate the PSone... I can't use my gameshark.

Of course, there are no real gamesharks for PS2, only a CD bootdisc... Crappy bootdiscs... Can't do my hacking with that... Of course, no HD means no PStwo for me. PStwo's gonna suck.
