ZeldaOoT vs. Zelda05

Postby Linksquest » Sat Sep 04, 2004 5:23 am

If you're a Zelda fan, you've prolly already seen the Zelda05 trailer. Some have already speculated, since Zelda05 is supposed to be the third in the Ocarina Trilogy, that the setting for Zelda05 will be in Hyrule... How similar, or different, do you see this new representation of Hyrule will look like (If it is indeed Hyrule... that has not yet been confirmed)? Will gameplay features be the same... what would you like to see in this new Zelda release. What would make it your money's worth?

well first of all, zelda 05 isn't released yet... so we can't have an argument from judging a whole game vs a trailer... you must be anxious for it

I have seen the trailer and wow, the scenes look like the ones from OoT, except pumped up. My brothers assure me that 05 is not a reamake of OoT, but I really want a different story and setting. I guess I'll just trust and see.

I think it will be worth the money. I really hope so that is. And everything I've heard about it sounds really awesome. I think it just might beat OOT.

I haven't seen trailers but I've seen screenshots. I didn't mind the cartoony Link, but I know a lot of people hated it (I only hated how it took you 15 @*#! minutes to sail anywhere). This new LOTR looking Link oughta shut up all the "Cel-da" critics.

Time:
It could possibly be the filler for what happened between Oot and Wind Waker. Or something that takes place a long time after Wind Waker. Seeing how the name was originally Wind Waker 2. -Unless Nintendo has another Cell-shaped Zelda game up their sleeve for the 'cube. That’d be cool.

Game play:

Most likely the same as control structure as OoT with a few tweaks and added moves.

What would make my money worth it?

I don't think I need to worried about that.

What would I like to see?

Heh, I could go on all day with that.... but here are some things I *wish* for...

1. A deeper level of combat..... you know, more combos and such... like Link in Soul Calibur 2. Not as complex, but you get the picture.

2. Tons and Tons of little easter eggs and secrets

3. At least 8 or 12 dungeons.... and two of them should be randomly generating.

4. Really pretty water.

5. Like in Wind Waker.... the ability to pick up the enemy’s weapon.

6. A more interactive environment. In other words, I wanna break more things.

7. No voices, like the other games.

8. A RPB (Rocket Propelled Bomb) Launcher or/and something else that's like a “hidden ultimate fun to mess withâ€

Is it actually being referred to by Nintendo as the third game in the OoT series? True, it is about 'adult Link', and it appears to be returning to that realistic style, but I haven't heard it specifically called a sequel. Like many Zelda games, it may be a stand alone retelling. Whatever it's plot ties, though, it does look cool.

I'm going to take this thread in a different manner, as I have little to say about it as you put it.

As a game, I feel it has a fair chance of rivaling Ocarina of Time. If it has a world even more massive, slick and more complex combat, a developed story and nice graphics (that's probably covered) it could well again set the standard for a Legend of Zelda game.

I'd like to be able to see combat involving less use of the shield. Dodging is more fun.

Horseback combat seems to take a larger part. before all you could really do was attempt to run things over.. Oh, and what's with that Balrog type enemy :x

::drools:: Oh pleeease let it actually be part of the OoT chapter! I've got a good feeling that it will be. Looks like it'll be all the great stuff that OoT was, plus a lot more! I can hardly wait! = D

I don't mind if it is part of the current storylines or something entirely new. So far the Zelda games have all be fine, and they operate regardless of where they fall in the storyline. For example, Zelda II is the chronological sequel to I, but it wouldn't matter greatly if it wasn't. They've been quite free form.

That's odd, because it was originally, though temporarily, dubbed Windwaker 2

Ok, heres the sitch... Windwaker 2: Tetra's Tracker's was going to be a multiplayer "sequel" to Windwaker. It was going to have the same cel shadedness as windwaker, and it was going to be GBA compatible. That game turned into Four Swords Adventures, for GC (Im pretty sure.) The next GBA game, The Minnish Cap, will also have the celish graphics with it, at least the anime is representing this.

This new zelda could become a filler betwixt OoT and MM, but i doubt it. WW was a longshoted sequel to OoT and MM anyway... way way into the future... it still had vague links (pun) to the past. With the whole garb in green, etc. But those links could be to any of the zelda games in the series.

If the new zelda is a filler, it is quite obvious what the ending will be, (see intro to WW). If it is a filler, link will end up going to some other dimension, and will not be in Hyrule to save it. ::Hmmmn Termina???::

Top five things I'd like to see...(Note... these may include things from previous games)
5: more tunics!
4: black holes! (I dunno why....)
3: improved sword techniques
2: gorons... zoras.... dekus.... (one of the only reasons WW stunk)
1: some type of jumping object like the roc's feather.

I highly agree with the last of those. The Roc's Feather was always a great item, and gave the game a fair amount of new depth. Link obviously has incredible jumping abilities (judging from what he can jump automatically), and it seems he should be able to use these at any given time. Such an item is the next best thing.

Yes! Awsome items. I think the main thing that will prbably make this the next standard for the zelda games, is the realistic looking graphics. This fact will be especially exciting for fan-fic readers and writers, because in the written world of Zelda, in our minds, it appears real, while in the previous games in the game world it has been more cartoony... i dont know if that made sense...

It made sense to me. Worlds such as the Hyrule of OoT provide far more motivation for me to write fanfiction as opposed to those of Wind Waker and most likely Minnish Cap. Also, I will enjoy a larger world to explore.

I think the most important thing about Zelda05 is that it will do for the Zelda community what Zelda OoT did: bring a lot of new fans to the series. Ocarina of Time was the first Zelda game that i played (technicallynot true because i learned recently that when i was young i played the orignal NES Zelda). i fell in love with the game, and to date, it is still my favorite. Majora's mask and Windwaker could be argued to be better games than Zelda: OoT, but the fact that it was the first one i played, i think it will always remain my favorite.

When this new Zelda05 comes out, i believe it will be the favorite game of new fans... a lot of people who may not be into zelda, or havn't heard of it before, will be brought into the world of Hyrule!

i can't wait!

note: EBGames says that they can ship Zelda05 on June 1st 2005... i wonder how they know when it will be shipped when Nintendo hasn't even announced the official name of the game!
