The X-Box is a PC trying to be a console.
The PS2 was a console trying to be a PC.

I wish developers would STOP trying to be like the PC market and just make original consoles!

I suppose its impossible for MS to stop with the PC stuff since they ARE a PC Software company. But Sony has no excuse.

Who cares about the power of a console!? I STILL PLAY MY SNES!!!
It's the games that make a console NOT the power.

But anyway, yeah, I agree with you it is pointless bragging.

10-to-1 says they'll pull an N64 minus the SMW and have no good games for the first, like, year.

Who will pull a N64?

M$ is my guess. I love how Balmer phrased that. We can "TAKE SONY." So let me get this straight...

We are supposed to believe this is NOT a monopoly company trying to muscle someone else out of an industry, right? Then explain to me WHY M$ is still in this market even though the X-Box has COST THEM MONEY??? The are STILL in the RED on this one. I don't know. Seems a little weird to me.

personally i think the xbox the best of the 3 systems out right now........hardware-wise........ps2 has better rpgs.....

i don't think XB2 is going to follow the dreamcast though, M$ has something sneaky up their sleave.

the bragging from M$ isn't necessary though.......everyone should wait until the numbers roll in before jumping the gun on whats hot and what sucks.

Most of X-Box's big sellers were from buying third party companies out or exclusive deals from thrid party companies that they poured alot of money in. That should tell you something about Microsoft but we pretty much already knew all that.

Microsoft unlike Sega won't suffer the same fate of falling under yet, the company as a whole has plenty of other assets to equip their financial cost of the Xbox. It strikes me that they chose to go first in the next-gen war, especially considering the console has risen to number 2 in the states and is getting some strong third-party support.

I think it's healthy to have three consoles out right now instead of just one. But the bragging, on either sectors supposedly stimulates competitive growth, I say it's blatantly uncalled for.

I dont feel x-box has anything to lose or gain from coming out first really. I think they just want a leg up in the competion but who knows. I know the x-box has the best hardware and stuff but lets face the quality of there games and the control style for most of them (3 analog sticks??? whats up with that?) So yeah X-box can come out whenever they want but that doesnt mean they'll win in the end.

I despise Sony fanboys. They think anything by Sony owns Nintendo or Microsoft. For people who don't have friends to play with an play only one player, get a PS2. For those who love Multiplayer games and always play multiplayer, get an XBOX. For a combination of both get the GCN.

Uh well when a system has more exclusive titles, the biggest game library, is a DVD/CD player, it's really no suprise people like PS2. Your second sentence I'm not getting because you know all you have to do to play four player is buy a $20 multitap, and PS2 has more online titles as well.

The dudes only talking trash, he's trying to scare sony. Nothing else. I got the Xbox and I got it because it gave you allot for the money. Allot of games are stinkers but so are allot of ps2 games. Plus I wanted state of the art and Xbox has that plus Xbox live, Multiplayer is the future for consoles and microsoft did that. Sonys main competition is Microsoft not Nintendo. We can see that with the price cuts and sony making the online adapter standard. The people at microsoft are no fools and I bet more informed and knowledgable than us. But it kind of makes me mad that they are choosing to come out first, I feel betrayed, it's like they are abandoning Xbox 1, and it hasn't even reached it's full potential yet, Proablly never will. I give props for sony in maintaing a healthy lifespan for the ps2 and supporting it. You gotta think about the gamers, you know, they support your product, don't let them feel cheared out of thier money...

Were Final Fantasy not on Playstation I wouldn't even have a PS1. It's the ONLY game they ever had that interests me of any great depth.

X-Boc has nothing of interest. The thing's the size of a breezeblock and weighs just as much!

I'm certain that Microsoft and Sony's products are going to become more and more like pre-made PCs whilst Nintendo sticks with regular consoles. I can see it happening even now! PS2 and X-Box are more like PCs than they are consoles. Thats not dissing them, PCs have some good stuff. But when I spent £200 on a console I wanna know its a console I'm getting and not a PC.

Next thing you know you'll see Sony and Microsoft coming out with upgrades for their consoles! New graphics cards and sound cards, you'll have to install them yourself and pay attention to the requirements of each game you get :P

All consoles are basically computers. It just happens that microsoft chose to adopt off the shelf parts (from the PC) for the Xbox to save time and money for design. So I think we shouldn't discriminate the Xbox and say it's a PC. Hackerz have gotten Linux to run off a gamecube, I think maybe even the N64. Consoles and PCs have similar designs.

Yeah I know consoles are computers. But the X-Box and PS are becoming more like PCs than home consoles was what I was trying to say.

Take the PS1, no fancy upgrades or attachments, put the game disc in and play away. All you need to play the PS1 came in the box. (sometimes even the game)

PS2/X-Box now requires multitap(PS2 only), keyboards, internet access, camera, remote controls, remote receivers and the list goes on! X-Box to play online you need a subscription!

And you can go online with the Gamecube too.:P It was gonna happen anyway and I'd rather have my game system be able to go online before my fridge can order food off the internet heh. This is a good thing for games it will make them more immersive and competition will always drive Devs to make games better.

Yeah...sadly since arcades have declined in numbers...we got one Gameworks in all of San Antonio. More and more game companies are going to turn to online gaming as the best possible format for competitive gaming; besides I don't mind playing games like Gran Turismo, Street Fighter, Madden NFL, and more in the future online.
