I've been reading about them and I've gotten interested. I want to play some, but I want some that are in English...

A lot of dating sims are gonna be hentai or other forms of porn though, I'll warn you; sifting though them could be dangerous (not to mention disgusting)
Sorry I can't be of more help though.
I'm back to make a post or two every couple years...

Ok... A PG-13 dating sim in the US is "Graduation"

It's not squeaky clean from what I hear, but it's not hentai. Other than that, you'll have to rely on fan translations...

I saw some vid on the Playboy one (guy at EB makes VCDs and DVDs of upcomming stuff, didn't preview the ones so they only put the DVD in once while no-one else was in the store)..... the Playboy one looks like a really bad rip-off of The Sims. I think that one is M for mature, not AO, but I could be wrong. I don't think it'll be a long-lasting game, though it may sell a few titles up front, I see it being more along the lines of that BMX XXX game that tanked a few years back.

The new Larry game (like the ones previosuly) is M, not AO.... least to the best of my knowlege anyway (AO games don't sell that well, I doubt they'd dump as much money as they'd need to for a licenced title like that for an AO game). I've played a few of the other Larry games years ago, and while Al Lowe (I think that was it) did some funny stuff with the games, he's not working on the current project and that would be about the only reason I'd say to play it.... even then I'd say it only to extremely mature people (which is kinda ironic since those aren't the ones the game is marketed for).... anyway.... I'll have to see some more on the new game, but I'm not sure it's going to be worth playing....

Oh, and the LL games have been more about puzzle solving than dating.

The Sims.... that's one series, God love those who like it. I can't stand the thing myself, I have a hard enough time living my own life, micro-managing virtual lives doesn't appeal to me... I'll farm and whatnot (as in Harvest Moon), but the only thing I got out of the copy of The Sims that someone loaned me is that I can better understand why my place is such a mess.... I really don't have time to do everything ;)

I would suggest maybe checking with "Piro" over at Megatokyo, as he seems to be a fan of such things, but most/all haven't been released in this country, so, like Bob said you'll need to rely on fan-translated versions.

Most dating sims are used as excuses by perverted minds to be very naughty. . .
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Not a 'dating' sim, but Princess Maker does come to mind. Around PG rate, that's just above General (8+) and beneath Mature (15+).

Other dating sim games... there are some that aren't hentai, just that majority of them are. Hard to find an English dating sim that would be hentai free.

Someone suggested Tokimeki Memorial, but it's in Japanese...sheesh, I'll have a hard enough time playing through the Kenshin RPG ><. I saw the 'Graduation' one on DDR. I liked the Anime-style things, but I want the Japanese version of DDR. I hate English songs. The only ones I like are Ordinary Girl, Freckles, and a few others...mostly translated Anime songs.

Do not go to Newgrounds. There are clean dating sims there, just not many.

But I would say to the original topic: I do not think there are any good dating sims. First off, I have discovered everything I have been forced to play in the genre was far too easy. People are pathetically easy to manipulate.

Which brings me to the second reason I dislike dating sims in general: I believe they are degrading to women. Anyone can be effortlessly manipulated to whatever your whim may be. Any game the object of which is getting laid cannot be that great, but when you can do it without trying the entire business strikes me as entirely counter productive.

In summary: I, personally, frown heavily on dating sims.

Well, Harvest Moon (what I assume your acronym refers to) is a different issue entirely. Strange set of games in general.

But (sigh) if you want a free, non-hentai dating sim, look for the Love Hina Dating Sim on Google. It's basically as Volt said, though slightly more complex. Still stupid, in my opinion.

There was this part dating sim/part RPG called Thousand Arms released some years back for the playstation, that is almost-certainly pretty clean(It has a T-rating.)

But, considering Atlus has this bad habit of releasing limited quantities of many of their games, I'd imagine it would be difficult to find.

Anything with the word "maker" or some other term suggesting you can create something interests me (I LOVE DRESS UP GAMES! Oh...uh...:red: *ahem*). Could you tell me more about it?

Yes, I thought that was very clean and fun  One of my favorite parts of the game (too bad I had to play a GUY and date other GIRLS).

Actually, iI've never heard of dating sims. But if they are as several others have described them I'll stay away from them.

It says it never was translated into English. That's a lie, because at least PM2 has been translated by fans, and quite well done too.
