Financial Woes

I hope this is the right place to place this, since it's not REALLY a prayer request, as more of a "I want to get this off my chest" post.

Anyway, my mom has been battling financially for more than a year now. My dad is supposed to send her monthly support, but he's been completely neglecting it (saying he's now married to a woman with 3 teenage kids whom he has to support, can't work cause he injured his leg, etc etc etc). This has put my mom under a LOT of pressure. We are slowly making cutbacks regarding a lot of stuff in our house (little things, like trying to use less water/electricity, trying to stretch the life of products, etc). This is very demeaning for my mom, as she was raised to a certain standard, and now feels like she's being humiliated. I am trying to help her out financially as best I can myself, what with cutting back on things on my side and trying to support her. If things continue on like this she will have to sell our house and move into somewhere smaller (something that will cause her even more discomfort, because she's STILL not over us having to sell our last, bigger house more than 4 years ago to move into the smaller house we live in now).

Last week my car had to be taken in for repairs AND I have to have ALL FOUR my tires replaced. This ended up costing me an entire month's salary of money I had in my savings account (money that I was saving up to buy a new computer with next month, since my friend has been bugging me about wanting to buy my current, 3 year old PC at the end of September). Now I won't be able to do that, since I have to save up again enough before I can buy a new PC. I have also had my eye on getting a new TV at some point (the 7 year old, 19" one I use in my room is starting to bug me a bit with its small size), but that is also put on hold for probably 6 months to a year). Then there's the issue with my Playstation 2 and if I have to sell it or give it away to a less fortunate kid (I posted it in "What Should I Do?" in the Gamers Galore section under the TECH section). I know these are all material things, but they do have a way of working in on you, especially if you feel helpless that you can't really do anything about it. I guess this recession is being felt everywhere across the globe.

Finally I just want to say THANK YOU LORD that, after 3 months of being jobless this year I was able to start a new job in April, one that I've had no complaints about since I started.

My prayers go out to all of you who read this, who perhaps are also struggling financially or trying to find employment.

God bless

Rigard

Moved to Prayer section. It's probably better suited here.

Mr. Rigard,

I can relate to some of your frustration. When I left home I was only allowed to bring the clothes on my back and a few boxes of personal things. It is hard to give up our toys and luxury items, especially in a world that has so much. I am also sorry to hear about the situation with your mother. The fact that your father is too selfish to pay the support is down right wrong!
I believe that everything happens for a reason. "For everything there is a season and a time and purpose under the heavens". This might be a test from God; don't lose the faith and keep on trying and giving him the praise and thanks.
You are a wonderful person, Mr. Rigard, and it is obvious that you love God with everything. God takes care of his children; you'll be out of the storm soon.

Sounds like God's working mightily in your life as well as your Mom's!
Sometimes God has to take away everything for us to fully rely on him - does it suck? Oh most definitely, but is it for our own good? ABSOLUTELY! You mentioned your mom being humiliated, she's obviously going through a very hard time. First I want to say God must be impressed with what your doing
1 Timothy 1:8
If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
By you helping your mother, your not only doing what true religion is
James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
but also taking on that role as her own family which the Bible calls us to do. Look at the verses right before that on true religion,
James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Your helping your mother in her crisis GOD BLESS YOU FOR THAT RIGGIDIG - Don't forget that true love is not "self-seeking (1 cor 13)" - It sounds like your nailing it!

Now here's a verse that should help you better understand your mom's situation in what I believe God might be trying to do in her life.
1 Timothy 6:6-8
Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.

I'd like to go back to the part about being humiliated. It points out three times in the Bible; Prov 3:34 "He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble", 1 Peter 5:5 ".. grace to the humble", James 4:6 "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble".

This time of humiliation in her life can be for the benefit of her life as hard as it may be!
James 4:15 "Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that.""

Continue to press deeper into the Lord during this time of struggle! Continue to help your mother in her situation and the Lord will bless you!

The Bible tells us not to test the Lord our God, in the Bible when they tested God he brought down wrath upon them. BUT - There is one thing God asks you to test him in, and that if you do he will rain down so much blessing upon you that you won't be able to handle it!

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

GOD'S LOVE IS OVERWHELMING, EVERLASTING, NEVER-ENDING, AND CARING!

God, I pray that you continue to build up Riggidig's faith making him mature and complete - not lacking anything. That you shower down upon him discernment and wisdom from Heaven, that you allow him to become more sensitive to your voice. God I pray blessing over his life as he continues to do what you have commanded him, thus showing his love for you God. We thank you for these verses of comfort and we pray during these times we continue to seek you in prayer and repetition as well as thanksgiving that you might take away any anxiety we feel and give us the peace of mind that transcends all understanding. God we thank you for your many blessings and giving your son on the cross for us. Your name be praised! In Jesus's name AMEN.

Believe and you shall receive!

Rev 3:2 "WAKE UP! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God."

Reon. Wow. I'm speechless. Thank you for all that. Just the first verse I'm unable to find in my Bible (I don't own an English Bible). Are you sure it's right?

Thank you again and God bless :-)
