Just 1 Second Counts

To my brothers and sisters in Christ,

I’m haven’t come here too often but I’ve seen/read through various threads of the troubling, painful, stressful, etc circumstances a majority of my CAA brothers and sisters have gone through and have asked for prayer for. I’ve also seen the response of the wonderful, supporting, net-knit family that is the CAA and how no matter what life gives to us or takes from us there is not only God but everyone of you there either guiding, encouraging, or simply offering a prayer to those in need of some. So, I come to you all today in hopes of just that your gracious support and prayer.

I’m humbly asking for any of you to spare just a moment of your time to please pray for my Grandmother. She will be going into the hospital to have open heart surgery early tomorrow morning and due to her age and health this is going to be a very difficult operation for her to undergo. It is also hard on us (her family) to not only cope with her having this operation but also that the outcome may not be a “success”.

So, please if anyone would be able to pause just for 1 second and offer up a prayer for my Grandmother I’d be eternally grateful.

Thank you all in advance and God bless.

Update: While I have a chance

Wow, it’s been a long 24 hours. As stated in my prior post she had the surgery yesterday in the early morning. Everything was going well aside from one mishap that happened. Apparently, one of her ribs on her left side broke in half and punctured her. They repaired what occurred though as the surgery went on and after a few hours she was taken to the intensive care unit for recovery. She was put on a respirator and they placed a feeding tube in her. At that time she was placed in critical condition.

About an hour later when checking her vitals they noticed her blood pressure had dropped drastically. During the surgery my family and I came to find out she had low blood pressure the entire time which they didn't tell us until then. The doctor came in and said she needed to have a blood transfusion. So, they proceeded to do so. After the first transfusion they noticed as they were bumping the blood into her body that her blood pressure started to go up a little bit but once the bag was empty it slipped back down drastically again. They proceeded to do many blood transfusions after this in hopes that it was due to a loss of blood during the surgery. They did this all of the afternoon into early evening.

In the early evening her blood pressure was still very low and dropping more and they also noticed a change in her lab results that wasn’t good at all. She was in and out most of the time when they allowed us to her (only for a few seconds) she couldn’t speak due to all the stuff they had put on her and she’d start crying because of all the pain/suffering she was in and had to go through. It was just horrific. 5 doctors had come in to examine her and no one was knowing why her blood pressure remained so low and why the transfusions were not working to keep it at a stable level. During the night they sent her in for CT scan which showed she was bleeding internally. 2 arteries were found bleeding and they also found a blood clot in her chest.

They immediately took her from the ICU and started the surgery to 1.) stop the bleeding and 2.) remove the blood clot. I got a call about an hour ago and they said she was back in intensive care and that the surgery was over. Right now, they’re waiting for her to regain consciousness and try to see if she can sit up because they needed to get the blood circulating due to the blood clot they found (which was the size of a softball, literally.) and they do not want another blood clot to form.

I thank all of you guys and girls for praying and I ask you to please keep her in your prayers. She’s in massive amounts of pain and it’s horrible because she can’t talk or even move due to all the stuff they have her hooked up too. They’re hoping that if all goes well they can try to remove the feeding tube but no word yet on that and the doctor has yet to say if she‘s on the path to healing and recovery or if it will all go downhill again. We’re all hoping and praying that everything will be good and she’ll at least be raised to a stable state. Right now, she’s still in critical condition.

Again, thank you all so much. If it wasn’t for the prayers of you guys, my family, and God I don’t know if she’d have made it this far. The one thing my grandmother is, is a fighter and right now she’s still fighting through God’s will and grace and all of our prayers.

So, please continue to pray.

Update.

My grandmother is doing better and was released from the hospital a few days ago. She's now in my family's care. She's still very weak/fragile, in pain (that's to be expected), and a large quanity of her body is one gigantic darkish purple bruise due to the many blood transfusions they had to give her. Hopefully now, everything will continue to look up from here.

Thanks again everyone for your prayers and support. :)
