My dad's not doing too well right now

He's got a hernia, and while I'm not sure if my mom's panicking is merited, she seems a lot more worried about it than he is. She says she talked to the chiropractor, who told her that his particular type of hernia can become strangulated and she's certain that's what's happening.
He's been in serious pain today from it, though he thinks it's just from popcorn he ate yesterday at a movie. I don't know what to think about it, as on one hand my Mom's known to overreact and worry, but on the other hand, we've had some extreme things happen in our family, and my Dad has a habit of UNDERESTIMATING the seriousness of his own hurting body.
He's already had one hernia surgery, and this will be his second, but because of the way things work, he won't even be seeing a doctor until Friday, and he has a Nazi boss who tells him that the illegal amount of essentially free work (we get free rent, but that's it, and technically you're not supposed to work more than 20 hours a week if you're not getting paid) he makes him do isn't what's causing this, but instead his own lack of fiber and water... yeah...
BTW, I don't say Nazi lightly here... I mean it. The owner's an antisemite to the core, thinks hitler had the right idea, and thinks Jews are responsible for all the problems in the world and somehow rule it all from the shadows... He just happens to own the apartment complex we live in, and just happens to be my Dad's boss. This is in ADDITION to him being a stubborn, arrogant, 90 something year old man who scoffs at my tired dad because he's "still young" at 76... That old caa-inappropriate word is gonna kill my Dad...
