Let's pray for our new leader! 8D

Hey guys, America voted and chose a new leader tonight!
All partison spirit aside (PLEASE I would have made this if either candidate had won)
I think we should lift up our new leader, and the new leaders of country up to God. I'm sure some people are upset, and some are estatic.. But either way we need to give our joys and sorrows and our future to God right now! Because the next four years are going to bring something different.
God gave me a verse earlier when I was praying...Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," Declares the Lord, "Plans to prosper and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future!"
So lets just pray okay? And please leave all stupid partison comments out of this thread, I don't want a debate here. Just PRAYER. Thanks!
(Mods if you really think this was out of line, I apologize!)

In case anyone isn't aware of this, Obama's grandmother did pass away yesterday so keep his family in your prayers...also I will be praying for our new leaders.

This thread is fine as a simple prayer thread; after all, we are told in God's word to lift up our leaders in prayer. However, if any one of you turns this thread into a political debate or makes political remarks that will spark debate, you can expect a strike.

Yah, that made me feel really sad too! She was so close to see her grandson become president. How sad!
Thanks, Corrie for letting this stay!

We should always and continually be lifting up our leaders in prayer.
May God bless America, both her people and her leaders. (And, by extension, the world over as well.)

Yes I agree. We should always be praying for our leaders and our nation. Please, don't forget to pray for Bush and his family while he steps down from office as well.

I'll be praying, too, and that verse helped me in a situation I'm going through, as well.

While we're at it we should give a prayer of thanks.
Forty eight years ago, the religion barrier to the White House was broken, when a Roman Catholic became president. But now, the color line is finally broken as well. In addition, we have now had not one but two female major-party VP candidates (the first was in 1988, I believe) and we very nearly had a major-party female Presidential candidate this time around. The gender line is as good as broken at this point as well.
Now, any young child growing up in America can say 'Someday, I'm going to be President!' and nobody can ever again tell that child, 'Forget it. Someone of our race/religion/gender can't be president.' And that blessing truly is something we should thank our Lord for.

I will be praying. Kudos to CK for making this thread.
I already posted this verse somewhere else, but it would fit here regarding Moon's comment, I think.
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. -Romans 13:1-2
God is in control and always has been; trust in Him to work things out for good.
And while praying for our new leader, pray for our nation as well. Not because we need it now, but because we've always needed it. ^_^
