Shouldn't bother me, so small request...

Postby Momo-P » Fri Sep 26, 2008 10:10 pm

Just a small request here guys. I know that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one (kind of like an egg--one item, but specific names for each part), but...lately satan is really trying to get to me.

I know it's idiotic to let him bother me, but unfortunately I just keep feeling sick about it. God is Jesus and Jesus is God. The Father is His "true form" so-to-speak, while the Son is His human form. They're the same person, but His human self really was human. That meant it had limitations and looked at things from our level. So in a way They are different, yet They're not.

In the end it's really a case of "There's scripture that supports the Trinity, so I know it's true, but...my human mind finds it hard to understand, so how can it be true?!" It's one of those cases where satan plays off our human minds being so inferior. Technically we can understand the Trinity, it just is quite hard.

All I ask here guys is just...prayers for strength and understanding. I don't like these stupid second guesses, especially because I know I'm right. God is God. It's not impossible for Him to split Himself up or anything, it's just like the tiny details that throw me off and whatnot...so please pray I can "get" those and just freaking relax. I already got the idea and whatnot, this shouldn't irritate me, but it's like I can't let go.

Also prayers for the family would be nice. A few different things are going on that aren't exactly great and I know everyone would appreciate it.

Thanks so much guys, God bless!

Actually, Jesus' Earthly body had no limitations whatsoever. At a finger-snaps pace he could have had the entire Army of Heaven descend fiery destruction upon his enemies and save himself from all suffering or ruin. Arguably this makes his sacrifice on the cross even greater than it already is; he personally refused to water down the human experience or to escape the darkness of death.

Convictions, not chains.

It's called a mystery, my friend. You're not really supposed to understand it. There are things in the world we are not meant to understand, only accept. That is where faith comes in. Think of it like a mirror. When you break a mirror, it is in several pieces, but those pieces are all part of the same mirror.

Hey, I've had trouble thinking of the trinity myself. Don't worry, Momo-P. These aren't attacks from satan, they are merely our fallible minds failing on us. ;)

I know it's a mystery, and it's hard to understand, but we could think of it this way, as St. Patrick tried to explain it:

Upon picking up a shamrock, he pointed out that it was one plant, as there is one God. However, there are three separate, distinct leaves on the plant, as there are three separate and distinct persons in God, and they are God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. One plant, three distinct leaves; One God, Three Distinct Persons. Leaf #1 is not leaf #2, nor is leaf #2 leaf #3, and vice versa. God the Father is not God the Son, nor is the Son the Holy Spirit, or any other way around. Does this makes sense?

Or, maybe you can think of it like a family. Say, the Smiths. There is the Smith family, and in it you have Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith, and Smith Jr. They're all completely different people, but they're all part of the same family.

As mentioned, the Trinity is still a mystery, so we won't completely understand it, but maybe St. Patrick's example and the family example might just give a microscopic glimpse into the awesome wonder that is God. After all, just because we don't understand it doesn't mean it's not true, right? I don't understand quantum mechanics, but they exist. XD

(Hey at least he chose a real number, imagine if he decided to say that he was one of 1 + 4i + 2j + 7k parts of God... I mean, then it would be called the great quarternion instead of the trinity).

Seriously though, I'm just going to agree with what everyone else here is saying. Its part of the mystery. Like all other mysteries, its something to look forward too, like a Christmas present! Just do what I do when it comes to these things and say: "Hmm... that's pretty cool, something neat and mysterious... I'll shake it around a little to see what I can come up with... then when I get to Heaven I can ask Jesus personally!"

Granted, I hear there are some things that will always BE mysteries, but that's what makes it fun and exciting (just getting the answers isn't always exciting to us as human beings... its like getting everything we want whenever we ask for it, it takes the joy out of it).

This site has links to good stuff that attempts to explain the trinity, and that points out some of the important verses that demonstrate the truth of the trinity of God.
