At a medium high!

Postby Saj » Mon Aug 25, 2008 8:32 am

I say a medium high because things could be worse, and things could be better. First things first God = Awesome. But I need prayer for some stuff.

first thing i want to say is i love this forum. I dont have any friends that i talk to from here at all(mostly my fault, im not a very social person to begin with), but i still love it, its very encouraging and uplifting. so i ask that who ever reads this to pray for the forum its self, the equipment and people who keep it running, the people who pay for it all, and especially the participate in it.

I was in Tijuana Mexico this summer for just a week. I went there to build houses. and i took part in building just 1. In my heart i didnt want to leave, the guys who i went with, we all felt the same. We agreed that a lot of work needs to be done there. a piece of my heart stayed in Tijuana.

Me and my best friend, chris, were sitting in a lawn chair at the camp watching a sheep (we've never seen one before, and he was captivated by it for some reason, lol) and we were talking. I dont remember what question he asked me. but my response was "I dont want to go home to the same life." and the sad thing is i did. I came home, and spent most my time playing WoW, watching tv, and working. This weekend we did a fast for one day. sun up to midnight. God's put it on my heart to fast food and entertainment this week. So im going to do it, and i just want to ask for prayer about that.

Also, me and 3 other friends are all planning on moving out. Ive been thinking about this for a while. and have been considering a bunch of options, and im about 80% sure that instead of renting a place, i want to buy my own house or apartment. so yea... need prayer for that. but also i want prayer for the 4 of us, we want to do this moving out thing discipleship style. This week im going to study acts to try to really understand what that entails.

Another thing i want to ask prayer for is we (me and the 3 other guys, from here on out ill refer to us as the photon condors) are planning on restarting a homeless ministry on our own, that wont be part of a specific church, called 34. Were starting this weekend in Miami(where we live). going to where the worst of the worst of the homeless are and giving them sandwiches and water, and some other stuff, and minster to them. so im asking for prayer for protection, wisdom, and success. (if anyone near miami,fl who wants to join us, let me know. Right now though were only letting males over 18 come with us, but let me know if your younger or a girl anyway, and lets see what happens.)

as usual, i said a lot more then i intended. Thank you guys for you prayers and attention. If anyone wants to talk about 34 cause you want to learn more or come with us, or if you want to plain talk, you can attack me on aim or msn (aim: oskiee23 Msn: oscarmorejon@gmail.com)

That's awesome! The college group at my church does a homeless ministry down in Houston --we bring food (fried chicken and assorted goodies) and clothes to them downtown. There are a lot of people living on the streets and under the bridges --especially closer to Minute Maid park where the Astros play. I've been participating in this ministry for almost 4 years and I must say I've been blessed beyond words --it has really made me appreciate what I have--I am so rich compared to many people.
As for the "males over 18" rule you have set up, I would say that it is okay to have females over 18 come along as long as they do not go off by themselves and as long as they stay in a group with a guy. That is the rule we have. It can be pretty dangerous, but the people are so thankful for everything (well, most of them are). It is sad at times --especially when you see young children or people in wheelchairs living under the bridges. But God will use you to show Christ to these people as they are often the forgotten or dehumanized parts of society.
May God bless your new ministry in Miami. This is something that needs to be done all over the country.
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
