Everyone is a sinner.
Singling out a city, to me, is a bit... going to far, IMO.

You're right, but the City still needs Prayer. I'm gonna try to pray for this city and I hope you guys will join me. Remember if 2 or more come together in prayer, that prayer can be answered...I think thats what the bible says(i havent read my bible in years)

*smile I do have to laugh at the fear poster...poor lil chihuaha lol
However, I understand where you are coming from Christisright! It is biblical to pray for a city and God has obviously placed a specific burden upon your heart for these ppl just as some pray for a specific nation or perhaps a group of people.
Father,
we come before you to pray on behalf of the people in teh San Francisco area. Lord please bring them to you as you would all your people on this earth. Father, if you have placed a burden on my fellow brother then please help him to realize what it is you would have him do: whether it is prayer or something else. Lord we give you praise and glory for all that you do.Father I wold also like to add that you place the desire for your Word into Christisright's heart. Thankyou for all that you do
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen

Dear Jesus,
I agree in prayer with Christisright & everyone for the cities of San Francisco and Hollywood. I also include all of California. Please help your servants there fight the good fight whether it be reaching the people around them with your word & grace to to your warriors of truth who are fighting against the corruption that is currently destroying the freedoms and safety of honest law abiding citizens throughout the state. In your name we pray,
Amen

San Francisco is one of the most important cities in America? When was this?
I mean, personally, I'd pray for the children being systematically slaughtered or sold into prostitution in the 3rd world, but San Francisco, sure.

Not to mention, I don't honestly know what's so important in San Francisco that needs to be prayed for.

If you're not gonna pray then leave this topic alone. I'm sorry I had to say it,but I don't want this thread locked just because we had an arguement about my Prayer request. We should be helping each other, not fighting against each other.
As for Why I'm doing this Prayer request. I feel that the People of San Francisco need our prayers....especially the Mayor. Don't ask why,I just feel that they need to know christ.

I'd be willing to bet that most residents of the city are indeed Christians, including their mayor.
Actually, if I remember correctly, their mayor goes to a Catholic church.
As for the ones who aren't Christians, well, it's not my job to convert people. It's not against the law to believe in another faith.

Look on the good side of this. At least this is not a pray for Japan, because like they have anime and stuff like some otaku Christians have done.
But praying for just a city is just well, just a bit too much in my mind. The world needs pray, just not one city.

I think I see what you're getting at, Christisright. (Does this have to do with the city being known for something, or was it just put on your heart to pray for the city? If so, something may be about to happen) I'll pray too.

I know some of you may not agree with Christ is right...but at the same time..why are you judging the fact that he wants to pray for a city...obviously it is something that he feels strongly about and at the same time if you do not agree, well then do not judge him for it and you really don't need to bring him down with this fact either.
And although you are right that the world needs prayer..is it wrong to pray for a town, a city, a country? Just because it is not including the whole world for this specific prayer...nothing is stopping people for praying for the world too.
Again my opinion *smile I do not mean to sound self-righteous because I'm not..I just feel that its not wrong to pray for a city
Romans 14:1
1 Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong.
Romans 14:10
10 So why do you condemn another believer[a]? Why do you look down on another believer? Remember, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.

Well come now people you don't need to make fun of people,I agree that just praying for San Francisco is a bit much but if you are not going to pray don't say anything negative that could make other people mad..

Look,if I sounded "Radical",I didn't mean for my request to sound like that. And Yes,I know that all of the People in the World need prayer, not just San Francisco.
Y'know We're strongest when we band together, that's one of the things Satan is really afraid of. When Christians are united,Lucifer trembles in fear.
Anyway thanks for your prayers. And ShatterheartArk,thanks for praying for me. I appreciate it. I've been under a bit of stress lately,so I haven't been myself. Please, continue to pray for me.

With all due respect to everyone here, I don't think it's a good thing to really make this a bigger deal. It's no different then praying for people in say, Japan or for a country that you feel called to minister to. The way I see this, those people with criticisms here aren't really exemplifying their own religion which they consider themselves to be a part of.
He obviously feels that San Fransisco is on his heart, so let's respect his decision and support him of his endeavors just as Christ would.
And for those that say praying for a city is "too much", that's kind of a statement without much thought. Seems people are forgetting just how big our God truly is.

San Francisco, just like any city, has people. People have problems. People are hurting. As such, I dare say that it's practically our obligation as Christians to at least lovingly pray for all of those around us. Not just San Francisco, but the whole world. Many of us are criticizing Christisright for wanting to pray for a single city. However, I feel that praying for one city is better than not praying for anybody in the world at all. All his preconceived notions and opinions aside, if he wants to pray for a city, then by all means, don't be a jackarse to him about it.

Agreeage, let's not argue about something like this, everyone. We
are keeping an eye on this thread, but I'd really hate to see a thread get locked just because of something like this. If you don't have something positive to say, please think twice before you type it out, and if you really think you need to say it, then please say it tactfully and without aggressive intent.
