Walking again

Postby Sheenar » Mon Mar 31, 2008 8:24 pm

Ok, so I talked to my surgeon yesterday (he goes to my church) and he told me he wants me to walk more (I was in the manual wheelchair at church).

Well, this morning I get in the electric wheelchair and I get 10 feet away from my dorm and it just stops, the controls flash a bunch, and it dies.

I guess it was a sign. I walked to my classes, to work, and to meals (and my meeting tonight). It was hard and my foot really hurt, but I made it ok.

Please pray that I will make it around campus safely tomorrow and that it will gradually get easier to walk.

Oh, and I get my cast off on Wednesday! Finally! (I've had one for about 9 weeks).

Thank you!

Well, walking today went well for the most part. I did make it to all of my classes, to lunch, and to work. But by the time I was heading home, my foot HURT really BAD--I had to stop and rest 3 times on the way home. I had to stay off my foot for 2 hours after I got home to get it to stop hurting.
But it should hopefully get easier gradually. And I'm going to the doctor tomorrow to get my cast off.
Please pray that I'll continue to have safety as I walk and that I'll have a good attitude about it --my blessings far outweigh my difficulties.

Thank you.

My cast is now gone! Yay!

I'll be in a boot/aircast thing for 4 weeks only taking it off to bathe and do the exercises they gave me.

But it's progress! Today walking around campus was a little easier. I even took Pebbles to the tennis courts to play for the first time in over 2 months! (She sure was happy to be able to play outside!)

Today was hard. My foot hurt really bad. So much pain. Please pray for me. Pray that I will be able to get good rest tonight --I'm worried that I won't be able to sleep.
