just a little advice and prayer needed

Postby chelle0227 » Tue Jan 01, 2008 12:16 am

okay my boyfriend doesn't believe in god and I want him to believe in him. he believes we have gaurdians and demons to corrupt us but he doesn't believe in god or satan. I'm wondering if there is realy anything I can do to make him see that god and satan are really there. I'm asking for prayer that I can turn him towards god, and I need some advice on how to do that. Thanks
Footprints in the sand by Carolyn Joyce Carty

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the lord.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of foot prints in the sand: one belonging to him the other to the lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the foot prints in the sand.

He noticed that name times along the path of his life there was only one set o footprints.

He also noticed that it was at the lowest and saddest times of his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the lord about it:

"lord, you said once i decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But i have noticed during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of foot prints. I dont understand why when i needed you most you would leave me."

The lord replied:

"My son, my precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that i carried you."

First of all...I'd like to reccomend not dating someone who doesn't have the same beliefs as you in the first place. I don't mean to preach at you, but it just makes for complications - I know this from personal experience... and God strongly advises against it (even in the bible!). 2nd Corinthians 6 tells us;
14Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15What harmony is there between Christ and Belial[a]? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?
People, if they do come to God, come in their own time. Other than your prayers, and prayer of other people there isn't a lot you can do but be a good example for them...Because you can't make anybody become a christian or believe in God.
If you go to church, you should invite him to church with you. Encourage him to talk about what he believes, but don't try to force anything on him because that can be troublesome. Still, encourage him to ask questions about something you believe in if he doesn't understand.
Still...
Anyways, I hope this helps even a little ^^
Psalm 139
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

I have to say that I share Kat's concerns. I'm anything but a relationship expert, but starting one with someone who isn't a fellow beleiver just seems... problematic.

Outside of that, I'd just have to ask exactly what he DOES believe. Where is he getting his ideas from? It'll really help to know just where he's comming from, so he doesn't feel like you're just preaching down at him.

Have you asked him "why not?" I mean, if he believes in angels and demons, who created them? Sounds like he might be falling into the currently popular God isn't out there fad. Don't let him get lazy.
