Need That Little Extra Push

Hi Gang
I need a little pray lifted up for my weight loss.
Last June I weighed in at 306 and decided enough was enough. My knees were complaining and my back would occasionally join in. I had no energy and had to drag myself out of bed in the morning. I started a weight loss plan and set my goal for 200. I have lost 95 pounds so I only have 11 to go.
Problem is...those are 11 tough pounds. My wife and daughter keep telling me I have lost enough, all those forbidden foods look better all the time and the temptation is great at this point. But I will never be satisfied until I reach that goal and establish a lifetime maintenance plan.
When you have a moment please breathe a little prayer for me that the Lord will provide the strength I need for the next few weeks. I feel so much better now and this whole process has been a period of cleansing and drawing closer to Him.

Just trying to lose about 15 pounds in total myself a couple years ago was hard enough. You definitely have my prayers and my admiration. We have a sticker up in my office from the Kaiser Permanente weight loss campaign that says, "No food tastes as good as thin feels."
A couple of my friends had good success with Weigh-Down Workshop, a Christian focused weight loss fellowship (seriously), but I don't myself know much about it.

I'll definitely be praying for you.
My husband and I are on the Atkins diet (his idea) and I've lost over 20 pounds - before there are any neg. comments let me tell you I take lots of vitamins;) . I'm half-way to my goal, and sure am glad they make low-carb tortillas now. *hehe* I don't know how much longer I could make it without a burrito or taco.
But what's great is I no longer crave caffeine or sugar. That was the biggest plus. I hope you the best and by God's grace you'll lose those last 11 pounds.

I'm on the Atkins plan also. The low carb taco shells are great. I use them for tacos, making my own pizza, and wraps for sandwiches. I found that people either have trouble with one of four areas with this diet: bread, pasta, potatos/rice, or sweets. I have always had a major sweet tooth so desserts will definately be off limits to me in the years ahead. But thank goodness for endulge peanut butter cups and Bryers low carb ice cream. They are great occasional rewards. And I was so tired of eggs for breakfast. I was thankful to find a recipe for mock danish.
I weighed in this morning at 209. Only 9 to go. I'll be praying for you and your husband as you continue on also.

Thanks Rev.doc for your prayers as well. *hehe* Did you know Russell Stover is now making candy bars, like pecan delites and toffee, mints, and everything for low carb diets? I just bought some at Walgreens with my daughter (she's not on the diet, since she doesn't need it; however, she stole all my peanut butter cups):shady:
I'm glad you lost some more. I found out I just lost two more pounds too.

Great discipline, Rev. Doc and Chloe. I'll pray that you will be able to keep it up.

Shhhhhh Don't tell anyone about the Russell Stover's Peanut Butter Cups in my office desk drawer...for medicinal purposes of course.
Super job on the two pounds. We'll be there in no time.

i used to weigh 240 at my biggest, so i know how hard it is to lose weight, it took me 3 years and lots of miles. ill pray for you, oh and while the atkins diet is good for loseing weight you should start trying to get off of it when you reach your goal, its good to lose wieght but its not good to live off of it.

I will pray for all of you trying to lose weight, and I am glad that many of you have experienced a great deal of success up to this point.
In addition, I have a similar request. On December 19th, I got a hernia, so now I am very limited in the types of exercise (and even evertday activities) in which I can participate. I probably won't get the operation needed to repair it until the summer, so please pray for my to be creative in my training so that I can continue and improve upon my current level of fitness.

They said it was done through their local church, so I'd very much like to see if this is true or not. Please let me know your references when you find them.

Well, that's certainly a preponderance of evidence. My friends did it back in 1998 presumably before all this happened. Thanks for the links, and I definitely retract my previous statement.
