Several Tornadoes and Storm Damage

Today, we have had several tornadoes and severe thunderstorms. In my area, there has been one fatality that I know of, but there are several people missing, and last I heard, there were three houses in the road. A shed was gone, a trailer had been flipped over on top of someone (I don't know who it was), a friend of mine's front porch and garage are gone. Trees are down everywhere and so are powerlines. I have been blessed thus far; none of the storms have hit my house or the small town I live in. However, the next county up I have some good friends in, and there is a tornado moving through the main street of their town right now. I also have only heard from a few of my friends. I'm rather worried about them, but I do realize it isn't in my hands, though I do wish I could do something to help. I ask that you pray for the families affected, and for the entire community. This is a small area, and the morale will be seriously hurt by this. School will probably be cancelled tomorrow, as well, so I will be out of contact. In any case, I thank you.

Lifting up those affected by the storms. I imagine it hits home even more for you when you're so close to that area.

Yeah, thanks. I rode through yesterday to look at the damage and see how badly it hit my friends house, and once I got there, my blood ran cold. On the way there, all one would see is the occasional tree down or so, a few signs tilted, but in the space of 10 yards it was like going straight into...well, yeah. It was horrible. It looked like someone had set a bomb off there, the way huge trees were broken in half like twigs. I couldn't help but shudder at the thought of it coming so close. With the damage I have seen, I am surprised that only one person was killed. One house had some walls caved in and was missing a roof, a single wide trailer had been broken in half. My friend's garage is little more than a cinderblock on the foundation at this point. His front porch is tilted at an angle. This other house had trees ripped up literally from the ground. Huge pecon trees. Half of their roof is gone, the road and surrounding area is littered with debris from inside the house. The sister and grandmother were inside at the time, but they made it okay. The damage out here is rough. Everyone was talking about it at school Friday, and I am honestly surprised they did not cancel. Hardly anyone was there. In any case, I think morale will be lowered around here for quite a while. This is the first time in my living memory that this has happened, and I think the same applies to most everyone around here. Thank you.
