I have a friend who has been dealing with demonic oppresion for three years now, though I have only known him since September. We have been praying about it and it left for four days but then it came back.

About this demonic thing, the stuff that has been going on is realy weird.
In one instance (the latest) he was out side siting on the ground leaning aganst a tree asleep. when he woke his jacket was off laying on the ground and he had his knife in his hand the knife he had left insde.

this is only one instance others worse in nature have occured.
it has spoken to him he has even seen it.

We are both Christians and have been for a while. I have tried everything I can think of (as has he) please pray for him and if you have any ideas please post.

I think Needle Noggin might be being facetious here. If you are, Needle Noggin, your sarcasm is invalid. Many people believe in demonic possession and the believe should not be taken lightly. (I myself am somewhat skeptical, but I don't believe in belittling the people who disagree with me)

it's not possession it's called oppresion.
oh and try reading the Bible, it talks about demonic "possession"

Has he been checked for a sleepwalking disorder? I'm not joking or making light of the situation. I just think physical explanations should be exhausted before demonic is assumed.
I say this because I went through a period in my past where I was haunted by demons - but I caused it by believing every weird thing that happened to me was demonic in nature. I used to see them everywhere. I now know I was just seeing things in the dark when my eyes played tricks on me. I was physically attacked a few times and it was beyond scary. I later came to know that that is called "sleep paralysis", and many people experience it, along with hallucinations. My obsession with demons at the time probably contributed to the form of the hallucination.
Not that I don't believe in demonic oppression. I know it happens. But what you described sounds like a sleepwalking episode.
Just a thought. :)

Alright Needle Noggin, quit joking around here. Some people don't appreciate the crap that you spew out of your mouth.

If he genuinely believes that he is experiencing this, he needs to get counsel from a mature Christian or a trusted pastor. He should also be reading his Bible and praying alot (if he isn't already). It's tricky to get advice on a forum with this, and it generally goes beyond the purpose of this particular forum. It would be a much better idea to get help from someone who knows him at church. If he isn't plugged into a church, this would be a good reason to do so.

Definitely go to your church and check with your pastor. Also, though some may have different views about different evangelists etc, personally I think going to see a person like an evangelist with a healing ministry or something could be good; however, it does depend on the evangelist, and others may not agree with me there.

However, no matter what course you take, there's one thing that I do strongly suggest: pray. Even if you're not sure what direction or advice to take: pray. God knows the situation, just trust in him, try to keep your hope up and not give into despair, and keep praying. He will protect you and your friend; keep reading your bible and praying, as I'm sure you're already doing.
God's there, and he can help. Whether it's sleep-walking or a form of opression, God can help and/or send someone along to help all the same.

Also, if you post a request for prayer in the prayer requests forum, there are Christians there who will support you in prayer as well.

I would recommended seeing an exorcist, but since you're not Catholic I guess that won't happen.

okay so heres what my youth pastor wrote to me...

Dear Beth,
So my advice to your friend:

First, Tell your friend to get Bible-based pastoral counseling and see what they say. Next, if they are really looking for answers, do you remember the book I asked you to read- Stomping out the Darkness? That book, by Neil Anderson & Dave Park, is followed up by a couple of others that deal with demonic oppression from a solid, Christian perspective- The Bondage Breaker (youth edition) and The seduction of our Children. I have read the Bondage Breaker and think it would be a great start for someone who fears that they are struggling with demons. Finally- Colossians 2:13-15- Talks about the power of Christ over demons- basically, as a result of the cross, the only power demons have over us is the power we give them.

and then he wrote me other stuff concerning just me ^_^
so yeah.
i dont know if that really helps but... i hope it does.
this is ... a hard topic.
only by the power of God though can your friend be rid of demons.
i'm praying for him and i think constant prayer is a good thing for him right now.

i hope it helps.
-FP

the way it was described weather there were other people there or not idk, but it was described as spontanious transportation of an object from one place to another. Its like staring at an empty table and then sudenly ur keys u lost a month ago apear right before ur eyes.

I say slap him some just to make sure and then take him to see a preist or pastor. The demon in the presence of a real holy man, such as a pastor or preist, should become unable to remain in his body or even enter the building and ur friend should be freed of this curse.

I'm moving this to the Prayer Room, with a reminder that prayer and supportive comments are encouraged. However, we will not tolerate any negative comments or comments that stir up debate.

hmm.... was he just saved? or is your friend saved yet? because if your friend is saved then it should have no power over you. its like a renter that doesn't pay rent. it expects to live in you. when you kick it out you've got to fill in the space it took with something better (GOD). pray in the name of jesus. in the bible observe paul, and how he cast out demons from people. take authority over the demon, because you have authority over it. its not you the demon sees. its God standing right behind you.

if all else fails, get a pastors help.

Not to go reviving dead threads, but it's been a long time since I've been able to post here.
I want to thank all of you. There have been no instances for almost five months now.
Once again I thank you and please keep him in your prayers.

WHat is the difference between oppressed and possesed?

PostPosted: Sun Jan 13, 2008 7:34 pm

Oppressed meant being "crushed" or overwhelmed physically by the demonic spirit; on the other hand, possessed would meant being controlled and invaded by the spirit both physically and mentally.

Well demonic possession occurs ONLY with Non-Christians. The Emily Rose case isn't possibly a possession. It might have been a demonic oppression but I don't know.

The oppression can occur with anyone. satan, in fact, PREFERS Christians to target because it hinders them. He does it to prevent them from becoming an important force against him. I've been praying REALLY hard for the individual.

If you look back at my previous post, I am also subject to demonic oppression. I've had prophetic words spoken to me and she said I'm supposed to lead a lot of ppl...which is beyond me. The demonic forces are getting stronger..I don't know if anyone has noticed...anyways I've definitely got issues with the subject... many times I've felt the urge to randomly even kill ppl I don't even know!! not the norm for me. I don't know if anyone thinks this is crap but honestly I'm not lying here..

anyways I'll keep praying, Chosen, for your friend.

Demonic possession can occurs to everyone, Christian or not. However, it is indeed a lot more difficult to possess a Christian who possess spiritual strength and guidance from Christianity. But it really depends on who you called "Christian". If it is someone who only goes to churches every Sunday, donate money, prays to God for every little problems without putting up efforts him/herself, read bible just as a duty without really trying to understand the teaching of Jesus, then that someone probably isn't anything better off when it comes to possession.

Satan does tend indeed prefer Christian, and probably Muslim. Just look at the blood sled in the name of religion, the intolerence and hatred created by them.
