I very rarely post things that are particularly personal here, but I'm left with little choice. My mom needs tons of prayer, and every little bit counts.
As some of you may know, my dad died in September of 2004. Well, about six months ago my mom met some guy who all of us could tell was a complete scuzzball. Against everyone's pleas and her better judgement, she married this guy in November of last year.
At the beginning of January, he told my mom that he had to work undercover with the police so that he could avoid serving jail time. Since we knew he had had prior arrests for drug charges, and the police sometimes allow this, we accepted his explanation. However, the fishy part was he claimed that the police would not pay for his lodgings. He also claimed that he needed my mom's car to use...a car which he later wrecked and totalled. And he is not listed as a valid driver on the insurance of said car.
To make a long story short, turns out he was lying the whole time. He has been living in a hotel for the last couple of months with some other woman, all the while spending my mom's money. He has also been arrested on the charges of trafficking cocaine, his fourth or fifth offense of this nature (I forget which).
I overheard my mom on the phone this morning. She has 600 dollars left in her bank account. That's it. And she has to spend 400 of it on something (I don't remember what), so really, she has 200 dollars. That's all the money she has.
I knew that all this guy would do is completely sap her of her money, and I was right...the only slight consolation I have with this is that HOPEFULLY, she will be unable to pay his bail and he will be forced to serve jail time for a few years, thus forbidding him from further placing my mom in debt.
The sad thing is, my mom is a child mentally, and even after seeing that this guy has taken her for every cent she has, cheated on her, and lied to her, she still thinks she loves the guy...it's so hard to watch this man destroy her life and have her smile as he does it.
I really don't know what to do. I can't tell my mom what to do...not that she'd listen anyway...and I'm a struggling college student myself, I can't really afford to help out with her financial situation, and well...I'm lost. So my mom really needs prayer, I would greatly appreciate it.
