A death in my church fellowship

Postby Syreth » Thu Feb 23, 2006 8:29 pm

A family in my church had a son named James who was doing pilot training. He was flying copilot with his instructor when they were going through some rough weather. They didn't make their trip; they thought they had a chance of surviving the crash, but they found their bodies today. James was 19 and he went to be with Jesus. He was a quiet guy who was proof that you don't have to be loud to make an impact on people's lives -- you just have to live for Christ. Please pray for the comfort of his family during this loss -- for his father, too, since it hasn't struck him yet. Thank you so much.

I will pray for his family and friends' comfort in this time of sadness. I'm sorry to hear about the loss. Any loss is hard, but it seems harder when it comes to someone who was so young. Praise be to God that he knew Jesus.

The way my friend got over it ( with her father's death ) is by thinking that he 'graduated' or 'checked out' rather than 'died'

But it must be especially hard for parents...all the work and then they die at such young Age. Sad, I wil lbe praying for comfort! :)

( I hope that, if he wasn't saved, the instructor called on Jesus in the end. I will also pray for the salvation, if need be, and confort of his friends and family )

I'll pray for comfort for the family to get through this time and to be able to see the blessings and workings of God with what He'll do through this trial.

I guess his family from the east coast has travelled over here to Washington for the memorial service, and I'm pretty sure they don't claim Jesus. The memorial service is Wednesday, so if you guys could pray that his family and everyone attending the service would be reached for Christ, that would be awesome. Thanks for the prayers, guys.

The memorial service was really good, thanks for the prayers. Because of the bold testimony for Jesus and remembering the good in James' life, it was actually bittersweet rather than gloomy. There was a praise band from a Christian school that did a couple of songs in memory of James and someone got up and played "Walk by Faith," by Jeremy Camp. Things like this really make you think.
