Warrior 4 Jesus wrote:Yes, maybe so, but there are better ways of saying it. Otherwise you come off as a Christian fundamentalist more concerned with law, than Jesus sacrifice and his Grace and Mercy. Conviction is good but being judgemental is not. That is all.
I believe that Ryu wasn't trying to be judgemental. I think she was simply trying to ask thought-provoking questions that might give Kura more motivation to break his addiction. When you can come up with really good reasons to quit something, it gives you that extra boost of motivation. I think that Ryu was just saying, "If you want your future spouse to be pure for you, try your darndest to have the same consideration for her. It doesn't have to be something that you're just doing for yourself." And I think that this is a good thing to point out. It's easy to stay in a sin pit when the only reason you'd have to sludge your way out of it is, "It'll be better for me." Because often, we counter that true thought with, "But this
feels better for me." Whenever we try to put it in perspective, it really can help.
I've written a lot of responses on this same topic recently, Kura, and here's basically what I've been saying to everyone:
1. Pray for God to make you STOP WANTING it. Not that you'd just be able to get rid of it, but that it would be what you want to do.
2. Find other things that are good for you *spiritually* to keep you occupied. It seems to me like temptation hits hardest when you're bored, so keep your mind on other things.
3. Find an accountability partner-- someone of the same gender who will constantly ask you how you're doing with the issue, someone who you can talk to when it's rough, someone who will pray for and encourage you.
4. Muster all your will-power, and then get rid of it without hesitating. Don't give yourself time to think about it, just wait until a good moment when you're the most resolute and just do it.
5. Tell God when it gets rough. In moments of weakness, run to Him and ask Him to help you!
I'll pray for you, Kura.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
