There are quite a few of us here on CAA who are struggling with it. You're not alone, man, I understand what it must be like, or I think I do. I know what it's like for me, and it really sucks. I'll be praying for you.

^^; forgive me if I'm wrong, but what makes the most sense, is not to constantly be conciously avoiding the temptation, but see... if you draw close to Christ, and surround yourself with trusted Christian friends, the temptation will really just fade away, but if you drift away again, the temptation will come back. For me, anyway, the closer I am to God, the further I am from temptation, and visa verca. Although it still takes effort on your part, and if you don't WANT to get out of the sin, even being close to God won't help, although if you're close to God, you should already hate the sin with all you have got.

Prayer and going cold turkey. You HAVE to just put it out of your mind. There were times I literally wished I had tatoos on my forearms to remind me. Prayer of course is a huge part and is the most important but you also have to take responsibility as well.

something that kinda goes along with what felix was saying is something that i've found to help me a lot, find yourself two or three male friends that you trust very much, and hold each other accountable, in this way each of you will be praying for the others, that plus when one of your accountability partners asks you about how you've been doing in this particular part of your life, you can be truthful with them and they can pray with you right then and there, this way everyone has everyone else's back, i've found that also keeping in the scriptures will help a great deal, it really does help to cleanse the mind and even the heart, whenever you start to get the itch either quote a verse to yourself, or even pull out the bible and read some, or if you're feeling really bold and daring, pray for your future spouse, not necessarily that you meet her, but just for her well being and all that

I'll be praying,
and I'm glad there is a thread out there to offer more help. Personally, though, I'm afraid we will all continue to struggle with sin (All types of sin), right up to the day we die. It's our nature, our fallen nature, and I personally believe each person has a personal sin which affects him/her more then other types of evil, for some it's greed, others anger, others power, and then there's lust.

As others have said, the best way to combat it is prayer and God, but you will not be completely rid of it, no one is completely rid of sin, but God is there to strengthen you to combat such sin. It's a war that rages our entire lifetime here on earth however, but we can choose to lie down and accept ourselves as sinners (which we are), or we can accept ourselves as sinners and fight till we give up our last breath, in which time we will then find eternal peace.

One way I find to combat many types of sin, is to become more active in church activites, outings, set-ups, festivals, something about being around the church constantly and being apart of it that just, I dunno, it's just a great feeling. Soon you'll find your mind craving more church then it will sin. It will always be in the corner of your mind, but it will not be the dominant drive of your self, God will be.

My prayers are with you, God bless,
Archan

I've been praying for everyone that has this problem..Sometimes Temptation seems like it will never go away..but it will if you truely believe in God and stay close to him. Im getting involved in this little thing called "1, 2, 3"

1=Pray
2=Read the word
3=Praise
those are things that should be done everyday. I know it can be hard to do all of them..trust me @_@ its hard..but just try your best! ^-^
