Strange marks on my skin

Hello. I'm not sure what's going on, but in the past 2 days I've gotten some colored patches in the middle of my thighs. They look like bruises, but they're very small and they don't hurt. I also have a red rough patch on my left leg, close to the inside of the knee. This one also doesn't hurt, but it's been there for quite some time. I asked my mom (she's a nurse) if she had an idea what they were. She has no idea.

Now I'm a bit concerned 'cause now I found some of the same patches mentioned above near my right elbow. I don't know if it's a rash or something. Please pray that they'll go away, or if they still continue to appear, that it can be taken care of. Thanks.

I will pray.

Does it itch or anything?

Would it be too soon to suggest seeing a skin specialist?

No, they don't itch at all. Which is very weird. And yes, I have been considering going to the doctor about it. If it continues to spread, I'm taking action.

I will pray for you and that either it goes away or that you get it resolved soon

hmm the only thing I can think of are stretch marks....but you are 21...I don't know why they would be showing up now....

I will pray as well.

They might be broken blood vessels. I have a few on my lower legs from standing all day in heels for years on end and walking forever and a day on campus in heels before I realized looking cute wasn't worth being miserable. Lots of stress on the legs can cause that.

As for the red rough patches...I have sensitive skin and if I'm not careful about what I use for facewash, I get those on my face. An allergic reaction, if you will. It doesn't itch or hurt, just my skin's way of letting me know "Hey...don't like that." Have you switched body wash or shampoo or lotion lately?

I'll pray for you.

The red rough patches could be eczematous. Easiest way to work with them without medications is to take showers that are slightly cooler (hot water dehydrates skin), then pat dry, and before leaving the bathroom, put a moisturizer on. The creams my patients have had good luck with include stuff like Eucerin, Aquaphor or Noxema. There is also something called Amlactin (ammonium lactate 12%) which works very well for dry skin, but smells funny and has a weird texture. Try the others before you try this. If it really doesn't work, then you would need a steroid cream or possibly an anti-immune cream, but I would consult a doctor first (instead of me making remote suggestions).

The purple patches do sound like broken blood vessels, and some people have an easy propensity to bruise for what seem like trivial traumas. If they're flat with your skin, I wouldn't worry too much (but if you start noticing them expanding quickly, get an appointment -- could be some sort of coagulopathy). However, if they're actually raised and you can feel the edges of them standing up out of your skin, those could be purpura and those should be seen by someone. A couple of disorders can look like that and you should have someone examine you to ensure that it's okay.

I don't use lotion a lot anymore. Maybe I should put those bottles to use again.

Thanks. Maybe I should also take (some of) Shooby's advice and lower the water temperature when I shower. I'll let you know if any changes arise.
