I am struggling in my mind and starting to fall into some old temptation. Please pray that I can stay strong and not fall back into old patterns. Thank you for your prayers in advance.

While that is rather broad, whatever it is make sure you're never to the point it stays hidden... Make sure people you trust know about it. The easiest way to lose to your temptations is to keep them secret.

I'm praying for you... & this might help you out:
It comes from another thread

Struggling With Sin
"When I want to do good, evil is right there with me." (Romans 7:21) Every day I long to be free from the struggle of sin. Temptation presses in upon me and too many times I fold under its hideous strength. Oh, to be free from temptation! If you struggle with temptation, like I do, then this thread is for you. There is no period in the Christian life when we are exempt from temptation. Some people hope that by simply growing older we will grow out of temptation but that unfortunately is not the case. The older we get the more we discover that the same old temptations, often in a new disguise, are right there besides us biting at our heals and seeking to bring us down.

Temptation is a reality, it is unavoidable, and the only time we will be free of it is when we are dead. But why is this so? Understand that while we are on this earth, the clear revelation of scriptures is that as Christian we are involved in a continual and irreconcilable war. But why would a Christian be involved in this war? Simply because the same grace which reconciles us to God, whose enemies we are before coming to trust in His son Jesus, antagonizes us to the devil who is our master before we come to trust in Christ.

Luke 11:21-22
When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up the spoils.

Before we were Christians we all were possessions of the evil one and an enemy of God. But when Christ freed us we become a friend of God and an enemy of the evil one. And the evil one cannot prevent that transaction but once it has taken place he will then bring all his endeavors to bear upon the life of the man of woman who says that they submit their life to Christ.

1 John 5:19
The whole world is under the control of the evil one.

“But I thought that when you were a Christian you were no longer a slave to sin?â€

That reminds me of a verse I was reading the other day. In Judges 1, God split up the promised land into areas for each tribe. The men of Judah told the Simeonites, "Help us take our territory and we will fight with you in yours." Because those tribes helped each other, they conquered all their territory. None of the other tribes conquered all their territory. I will definitely pray for you because I don't want to take and offer you help in return.

BWT Bobtheduck, I do have an someone I'm accountable to, and I will see him tonight. He is helping me a lot with this.

This is a great article by John Piper for fighting lust. Take a look at it, print it out, and read it often.

I would also highly recommend going through this 30 day course with Setting Captives Free.

Both of these things have been helping me in this battle we face. Please go through these things and I'm certain they will help.

I would

I have been getting closer to God lately, but because of that, I'm really getting attacked. I'm about ready to crack, and I even had a dream the other night where I was presented with temptation and gave in. I still don't want to get into in on CAA, but it's not really a lust problem. If you want to know specifically what to pray for, I can talk about it via IM or PM.

Just wanted to share something regarding the dream.

When my mum was giving up cigarettes, she had a dream that an old friend came to see her unexpectadly and, as they were talking, offered her a cigarette. In the dream, my mum accepted it and lit up. She woke up immediately after that, feeling EXTREMELY disappointed with herself.

Well, several days past and she forgot about the dream ntil one day the exact same friend in her dream came to see her unexpectadly. Again, when they were talking he offered her a cigarette, and just when mum reached out to take it she remembered the dream and because of it was able to say "no thanks, I've quit".

She hasnt had a single problem with smoking since.

I hope this was encouraging to you Mebo :thumb:
