She contacted me via IM and wanted me to post a prayer request here. There is a brushfire burning very near to her home, and she might have to evacuate. Pray that her home survives?

I'll be praying because I'm pretty close to these fires too!! Not too long ago my mom told me that they said on the news that the fires in our area just keep getting worse! Me and my dad when outside too and the streets are covered with ash!! Anyway I'm asking everyone too keep us that are in Cail by the fires in prayer that nothing happens too us and our homes and that these fires die down soon.

I called my parents, and they said they probably won't be sleeping much. There is a lot of ash fallling around them, so of it hot, and they have lots of pine/eucalyptis trees around them. You're on the list now too Benu!

I'll be praying for all of you in California and everyone else being affected by these fires.

Thanks everyone
As for me, it looks like I'll be fine. There's a flareup near Flynn Springs about ten miles away, but that's nowhere near as close as it has gotten over these last two days. The fires nearest me are out-for now.
Please keep my father in your prayers: he is recovering from his heart surgery and this ash is making him cough. Also, the ash and smoke is making me feel like I'm living in a world of smokers, ugh. I can't wait to see blue sky again, take a breath of somewhat fresh air. Even my room and clothes smell like smoke. ^sigh^
Also, can you please pray for my church? It almost burned, and there's several hot spots near it-and the neighborhoods around it lost lots of homes to the fires.
Also pray for my friend Kat: she was evacuated by the police today
and she said the fire was inches from her house.

Hey folks.
<prays>
I got an extension for that request. I live in Pomona, but my home and community (church, high school, fave movie theater, workplace, fave independant coffee shop/bookstore) are in the lake arrowhead and are in the direct line of the old waterman fire (thousands of acres, 325 houses) My parents are evacuated adn the mountain is empty. Tonight the 26th is the last ditch attempt to stop it before it reaches about a million dead trees around houses. Please pray for that area and for protection for the firefighters as this is a very mountainous area and a very chaotic fire.

Wow, I was listening to radio reports about the fires yesterday and sent up a few prayers for all our Californians. Stay safe, guys!
(For an ironic side-note, half of Maine is on a flood watch for the rest of the week...)

Good news: the part of the fire nearest us is OUT! -^.^- The closest it is to us is like 5 or 10 miles away past a lot of firebreaks. Unless something unexpected happens, we most likely will be safe. :whew:

So do I. LOL, most of my most important stuff is in a car trunk still, ready to go, and some more is stuffed into my purse (LOL, I carry a purse that's more like a small duffel bag, and for the hundredth time I'm really glad I do) which goes with me anywhere I go.
We're working with our neighbors (who have a truck and an animal kennel) to get our cats out of here should something bad happen.
We're as prepared as my family gets LOL

I'm glad you guys are safe. We're still praying for you, and for Oldphil's parents.
Another friend of ours in San Diego said this:
"The fire got to within 300 or 400 yards of our community. . . and stopped for no apparent reason. You can clearly see where the fire stopped even though there was a tremendous amount of dry brush and trees and even though the San Diego Fire Dept. did not have any equipment in this area. Given the hot, dry weather and the strong winds, the fire should have destroyed every home in our community, yet not one home was even partially damaged. It was as if the Lord had placed a hedge around the entire neighborhood."

LOL, mechana, I never thought of it that way. . .
My bag
is pretty heavy I guess. Normally, I carry my Bible, my wallet, a notebook or two, my writing backup and photo backups for my PC files, and some other things, whatever I think I may need for the day. . .other times I add much more (like when my dad was in the hospital I put my GBA, several games, and a book there along with the other things, and I've been known to carry food or other things in it, although no pudding, ever
)
One time someone who picked it up asked me how I could lift something so heavy, LOL. It's not heavy to me: I'm used to it. -^.^-
Seriously though, please keep us in prayers again. There's an orange spot on the hill across the street from us about a mile away, and I've been begging God to let it be a light of some sort or put it out if it is another fire. If it's out when I go back to look out again, give all credit and glory to God. . .if it's bigger, we WILL have to evacuate-it's too close to the road out and to the opening of our mobilehome court to do otherwise.
This whole business is scaring me. . .I've begged God to spare me and my family, promised Him that I will never write *serious* yaoi (i.e. where the story centers around yaoi and there's anything more than implications) ever again and deleted my unpublished yaoi writings from my hard drive, I promised that I will be a better person. . .yet I have this terrible feeling that I'm not dodging this that easily. . .

I'm still praying for you Millyfan.
I know God will accomplish His good and perfect will no matter what. I'm glad you have such a great attitude. I'm praying for all the folks out there in So. Cal. The fire is near my sister's place too, since I'm from that area. Let's just keep praying.

Woah, I had no idea this would be such an epic CAA event! In my ignorance, I thought after the first hour or so you'd know if you were safe... dang.
Do we always have this many catastrophies going on for different members or is it just coincidence? (Fire, 'nother fire, flood)
It sounds like you're having a very stressful week, milly
Here's hoping (and praying) that everyone makes it out okay!

Virginia tends to be pretty calm lately, so I can't even imagine what y'all are going through (I had to add a little southern "y'all" in there to demonstrate where I'm at -- haha). I'm praying for you guys, and I'm sure that if it is in God's Will, He will take care of you! Keep praying and have faith!

Good news: I'm safe. It WAS a spot fire I saw last night, but the fire department put it out, and it looks like where I live is safe now. All fires around us are out, and the wind is in our favor.
Praise God.
Please keep everyone up in Julian in your prayers though: the wind is blowing the fire straight toward them

Yes, I'll be praying hard for Southern California. My sister, Angeline, is down there at Calvary Chapel Bible College in Murrieta. She's called me and told me that all the smoke in the air is making her feel ill. I love Southern California very much, it's where I came out from. So this will definately be in my prayers.
