Personally, I'm very grateful for this thread. My family has been forced to evacuate our home, and they're fleeing to Dallas tomorrow. It's a very difficult time, especially since I haven't seen my hometown in a little over a month, and I'm not sure how much will be left for me to go home to. Thanks in advance, on behalf of my Houston home, for all your prayers.

I'm praying for everyone Rita's headed for.

Dear Father God, please watch over all these people who are running, some for the second time in a month. Guard the people who can't run, or who will slip through the cracks because organizations are run by people and people aren't perfect. Help those of us who have ways to give to give sacrificially so that those who are about to lose so much will have a way to recovery. Encourage those who trust in You so that they may face anything in this world without losing hope or joy, and move us with the kind of love for one another we should show so that Your body here on Earth will take care of all of its members and minister and witness to those who don't know You. In Jesus precious and holy name we pray. Amen.

It's been upgraded to Level 5 now... another history-making storm. What's ironic is that they just relocated a ton of people from New Orleans to Houston and thus right in the path of this new Rita...

Our good Lord, be with these people who are part of our family, bless them and protect them, they will not be affected my this storm. May the hurricane be destroyed by your own finger and relieve those who have just evacuated New Orleans and have just arrived in Texas who now have to face the same horror over again.

Yahoshua, please be with our very own members and great friends Gala, Animegirl1 and even Ashley who started this great site. May they be safe in your name, oh Lord. We also pray for the people to be safe from the storm and seek sheltar as quick as possible. We ask it in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Yahoshua, in Your name we pray.

AMEN!

AND ALL GOD'S PEOPLE SAID....

I was just thinking this morning that Ashley's family lived in the area where the hurrican was headed. Thanks for posting this thread and providing a place where out CAA members can post specifically whose in the path of this thing.

I will be praying for you all will be safe and that the Lord will spare you any damage. Really, I'm pleasing that God will just make this thing fall apart.

This is really scary...

My friend is unable to leave his home due to government procedure. Apparently the traffic getting away from the coast is so horrible that the government has stepped in in an attempt to make things organized and quicker, but that meant that a lot of people aren't being allowed to leave their homes yet. I'm just praying that he doesn't get trapped in the storm because of this

Speaking as a native there, FRWL, Houston has more than a few ways to get out. There are several large highways all being converted to north-bound lanes, and lots more sidestreets beyond that. The government in Texas is trying to evacuate early, but the storm is not supposed to break until late Friday/early Saturday. Your friend should be just fine, but I understand how scary it is. I've been praying, and will keep praying for those in the bayou city.

I shall be praying as well..

WOW This hurricane is the 3rd strongest, all.. it beats Katrina!

My grandparents live about an hour from Shreveport and 45 min from Texarkana (south) kinda on the TX, LA border. they aren't going to get the FULL storm but they will be getting the after effects. and the rain, as well as some wind..

Actually I just learned a few minutes ago Rita is so strong we're planning on dealing with a category 1 hurricane even up here in Fort Worth. But, I love what Shadrach, Meshach, and Abindego told King Nebuchadnezzar:

"If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up."

Our God can save us...but even if He does not, He is still the one true God. That is the sort of attitude I'm trying to have right now. But I totally believe that through our prayers many shall be spared. Thanks in advance, prayer warriors. All of us here appreciate it.

Wow, Ash...that is scary..>.< my grandparents only live like 3 hrs from Dallas and Fortworth...

but isn't a category one like 75 MPH winds? So...isn't this basically a severe thunderstorm? I have dealt with storms (never a hurricane but like Tornadoes and Severe Thunderstorms. ) where I live and the winds sometimes blew that hard....

Yeah, I think that's about right. Still gonna do some damage if it makes it this far north, but a cat one is much easier to deal with than a cat five.

If no one here has heard the latest, Rita has started to veer slightly north, meaning Houston and Galveston may avoid a direct hit. Further, it appears to be weakening, and will probably only strike the coast as a Category 3.

Though prayer is still greatly needed, it is awesome that the storm is weakening, so that the damage and loss of life will be lesser. ^^

I am extremely thankful for that. :jump: Although there is still a chance that it will veer back towards us (according to my radio), i doubt it will so PRAISE GOD!!!!!!!

Sweet. Any idea where it's expected to hit if it's veering north?

Of course, prayers need to continue.

here is the current projected path, compliments of Weather Channel.com..

anyway..we need to remember those people in the bus accident.. I was watching this in Geography this morning.. and I just started crying...not only for them, but I remembered my Pastor's son lives in Tyler TX and my Grandparents are FOR SURE going to be affected...

I am scared..but at the same time I trust in God to protect.

I'm really pleased to hear it's dying down. I hope it doesn't sit over Texas and just dump enough rain to seriously flood the area. I'm sure most people have left the area or are doing that now, but obviously not everyone will get out. I pray that those people in harm's way are safe and property damage is low.
