...is tomorrow. I'm really tense about it, for two reasons: my coworkers are less than friendly, and I'm not sure how well I'll be able to perform. Prayers really desired.

I'm sure you'll be fine, though I kinda tend to agree with Alice. I'm 20, and I still feel too young to be working. 'tis quite responsible of you.

Just remember to be friendly enough towards your coworkers, I've learned the hard way that being totally meek and intimidated doesn't always go over well. But I've also heard from my mother that being too open with coworkers tends to not pan out so well too, so it's a balancing act in the end.

i agree with lizardqueen. sometimes, people who aren't friendly find social people as bother. These people are the types who might haven't felt much happiness in their life.

Praying - first day of work is always tough.

I had a part time job at 16yrs too. I wanted to get one and my mom kind of encouraged it. We never had much money so if I wanted things I would have to pay for them myself. I had to pay for my car, car insurance and start saving for college. It helped me appreciate the things I worked hard for.

The first day is always the scariest part because you have to learn the in-and-outs of the job. It'll all take a little getting used to but I think you'll be fine.


The co-workers thing, well sometimes you meet people who just arn't nice people. Kind of sucks but yeah.. Anyways, if you act yourself I'm sure there will be people who like ya for being yourself.

Know how you feel. For me, all I could really do during my first day on the job was watch and observe. They didn't have me interact with the clients (I work with the mentally handicapped) until around lunch time, 'cause I was doing some tests and paperwork. In spite of the tension with your co-workers, just be yourself . Good luck.

Hey there, what kind of job is it?? I started working @ 17, and it was very intimidateing at first. Heck, it still can be at times. But it was so good for me. I wish I could have learned some little lessons and then never have to work again, but, haha, yea right. I started off trying to please everyone, regardless of if it was the best way to spend my time, and that isin't the best idea in the world. I'd advise you to figure out which bosses are really incharge, and make sure you get what they say to do done, and make sure you do what you think is important, and dont kill yourself with stress over what "should" or "could" have been done. I work in retail some now, and it is very stressful at time, and its taught me how to let things go, and how I can't do everything. Sucks, but its real life. OH! And beware of gossiping co-workers. Scope them out before you disclose many personal oppionions. (/mothering rant)

The actual work wasn't bad at all - teaching kids how to play soccer - but I didn't do too well with the coworkers. They talk like an R movie and I don't have anything in common with them. >.>

But overall it's not bad, and I'm glad to be getting the money.
