Prayer for an overseas missions decision

Basically, over the last 6 months I have developed a heart for the children of India and Africa. Our church (organised by my mother) helps to support and run a children's home in India, and every year a mision team from our church travels to India to visit them and also to evangelise around India. I really want to go, but I'm not sure whether to go this year or next year.
I'm working this year, and saving as much money as I can, but I'm not sure if I'll have enough money by the end of the year. Also, I haven't been away from my family very much, and I'm worried that I'll be overwhelmed in this country full of poverty and suffering (I am easily moved by these things). So I thought maybe I'd be more ready to go at the end of next year. However I'm starting uni next year, and I won't be able to save any money, and I'm worried that with textbooks and union fees, I may spend the money I have already saved and not have the money to go next year.
So basically, I need to decide soon when I am going. If I am to go this year, I need to really save hard, and to book flights and things. I just really need to know what is right, so if you guys could pray, that would be great!

Sure thing Rita.
The other thing is, if you do decide to go, it might be an idea to see if you can find a friend that is willing to come with you. Two is always better than one, whether in unfamiliar places, or doing mission work, or doing mission work in unfamiliar places.

Trust in the Lord, if you are called to this, do not ignore it! dispite the struggles you will find when trying to do this, God WILL pull you through. Pray to God about this and see what he has to say

I will pray that you make the choice that Wisdom (i.e. Yeshua Christ) decrees you to. Although I will note that the time you spend back at home at the university you can research the culture and cultural situation free of cost at the libraries, and perhaps use the university's programs to help teach you useful and relevant things too.

Thanks guys.
I definitely wouldn't be going alone. This year one of my best friends is going along with a team from our church, and next year I would go with a team from the church also, but Idon't know who's going next year.
I'm definitely going to keep praying about it.

I'll pray that God would guide you to the right decisions about the timing of things. That's awesome that you're being called to India. I pray that the Lord blesses your ways, even if you end up in a completely different place than you plan on. I'm actually facing a similiar decision. I just don't know what to do! I thought that I sorta had things figured out for the next few years, but plans will probably change as they often do. All we can do is the right thing for the time being, right?
