Job Searching

Ever since I finished my 3 year Graphic Design course I've been looking for a job and no luck. Its like 8 or 9 months now and things are just getting depressing. I suffer from severe anxiety, leading to moderate depression and things like this don't help the matter. I don't have the skills I feel I need to be able to do a job, I have no self-esteem.
I started volunteering at a hospital last week and that was good but I was a bit anxious (don't like hospitals). I worked in the wards (selling food and newspapers etc), coffee shop (kitchenhand duties) and in the playroom (for visitor's kids). It was good but some parts (the wards) were very daunting for me (I almost had a panic attack seeing all the sick people etc).
It would be great if you guys could please pray that I remember to turn to God for all my needs, that He helps me realise my worth and that I can trust that He will provide a job in time. And that I can calm my nerves to some degree.
Thanks guys.
God Bless!

I'm on it matie! It's tough when you can't get a job... my bro went through a similar situation after finishing his Networking TAFE course. But, praise God, he now has a job and is really enjoying it! I'll pray that you also get a great job that you will absolutely enjoy and that you will be like a shining star within that workplace
You're an awesome man of God W4J! God won't let you be wasted

Know how rough it is. I'll keep you in my prayers too.
Here's a little unasked for info & advice. Since it's unsolicited, you don't have to read it. Hopefully it might help a little, if not, please forgive me.
For most people who work in media have to be an independent contractor. The lucky ones find jobs. But the rest of us survive by working on different clients projects.
Being an independent contractor is basically means your a small business. What kind of graphic arts do you do? What are your hobbies, etc. Those can easily become your markets.
If nothing comes to mind, start with your church. Your fellow members might really appreiciate knowing there's a graphic artist that's a christian they can trust. (Most media & arts people tend to have an anti christian bias.)
Don't ask anyone if they need any work done now, (our business is a soft sell, to put it bluntly never sound desperate). Just get your name & business cards out there & so when there's a need they'll remember you. Think of it as planting seeds.
Unfortunatly, they never teach much about finding & getting the work in schools just how to do it. Sorry, Pet peeve of mine.
Feel free to pm me if you need someone to talk to &/or statagize on how to find & get work.

Hey man, you know that you can count on me. You've been an inspirational person here at CAA and it's the least I can do. I'm sure, if you continue to have faith, God will provide you with something great. You're in my prayers bro.
I hope things work out for you.

Dude, hang in there! God might prove Himself faithful in a way you don't expect! I'll definately be praying for you, man. I'm sure it must be a hard time you're going through, but it'll pass with time!

If you're looking to work as an independent contractor, you might call people in local businesses and arrange meetings to get to know what they use, what kind of difficulties they run into, basically business stuff about the area. The real point of these meetings is to get to know people in the field. Let them know that you're an independent contractor, and they'll probably be willing to talk to you.
The thing is, you can't ask for a job at that kind of meeting, it's just to gain mindshare. Get your business card out there.
I've been in a similar position myself, though not for as long. (different field, but I know what it's like) I'd say it might be a good idea to find something like a clerical job as an interim position to at least build up some confidence - that confidence can be a deciding factor in whether or not you actually get offered the job.
Practice your skills, and when you're done say "this is good" - you can ask "how can I make it better", but acknowledge that it is good first.

I'm praying as well, Warrior. Have patience and trust in Him. It's all about God's timing, you know? And His timing is definitely the best in the end. Have faith, and don't get depressed or anxious. *hug*
