Uni X_____X

Postby Hephzibah » Thu Jul 21, 2005 6:11 pm

Hey guys. I just started a new uni semester and while most of the subjects I am taking seem to be relatively easy, there is one that looks like it is going to be extremely difficult. It's a management course but unlike the others where if you memorise formulas and learn the textbook you'll do great, this one you have to (to quote the lecturers) "think for yourselves". This means writing long essays about how you would be a good manager and all that.

Now... while I'm not afraid to have to use my brain, I am more than a bit worried because I was never really good at writing out my thoughts on stuff... and I have an assigment about myself due in a week. I have to do this course in order to get some qualification when I graduate.

So, if you guys could pray that A) I would know what to write for the essay thingy this week, B) that I'd be able to get through this semester with the Lord's help and C) that I wouldn't stress about it.

XD Thanks guys!

Oo, I tend to freak when teachers give me too much independence and I can also see how an essay about yourself could be really challenging. I always feel weird talking about myself, and I worry about being arrogant or inaccurate. But then I realize that I'm being my own worst critic. I don't know if it helps, but you seem to be very good at expressing yourself on the CAA and I'm sure that your more than qualified for whatever challenges the prof's throw at you. I will most definitely by praying that God will help you through the writing process and that you'll have an awesome, preferably not stressful, semester.

School can be stressful indeed. However, the Lord will be faithful and give you the abilities necessary to do what He has called you to do. I pray that you are filled with the peace of God and that you would put in your best effort.

Heh, this is interesting. I took a 800 level Marketing Management class before but I really doubt it's the same thing. Exactly what are you supposed to manage anyway?

What really taught me management was grad school where my professors would leave me to 'manage' research projects independently.

I'll make a quick prayer for you for the Lord's wisdom in this matter. GOD manages the whole universe, I'm sure He'll help you with this. ;)

I'm still not entirely sure what exactly we have to do, but I doubt its managing an actual project. I think its more along the lines of knowing what your personal strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to management, and what characteristics a manager should have.

As for marketing (they are seperate subjects) I think we look at ways in which people market, why they market and which approaches are best.

Thanks for the prayers everyone XD

I am more than a bit worried because I was never really good at writing out my thoughts on stuff...

Gosh, I'm the exact way. My problems is it's almost impossible for me to effectively communicate my thoughts and ideas into writing. I have the perfect words, but they never come out.

But yeah, good luck on it. I'll be praying for your paper, semester and stress. As long has you continue to have faith in both yourself and the Lord, I know great things will happen. :P

thanks matie XD O, and I know what you mean about having the perfect words and all that... its just that when I tend to write about myself or my feelings or opinion, the result is a very concise report that sounds entirely fake and artificial. I'm a more a thinking person, not a feelings person (if that makes sense)

XD Nothing like a good ole Aussie to cheer you up!

Btw, I just wanted to let you guys know that the assignment is going rather well (have several pages of notes) and I think I actually might enjoy management :thumb: I had my first tute today and it was surprisingly interesting.

Thanks for the prayers everyone!

Actually, today is the day that I hand in my assignment... I've done 7 pages so far, and I think that its enough. Please pray that I do really well in this thing; granted, its only worth 10%, but it could mean the difference between a credit and a distinction. :thumb: Thanks all!

Hey guys, sorry to seem like I'm beating a dead horse... but things are getting really hard. I'm getting all the work done so far, but there are so many group assignments fast approaching (i'm not too good working in a group), and also will be taking over the leadership of kid's church as well as helping out with the youth group. In short... I have ALOT of stuff to do, and its really beginning to get on top of me.

I have been tired all week... even though I have been getting my daily dose of ~8 hours of sleep. Maybe I'm iron-deficient... I don't know. All I know is that I really really need as much prayer support as possible.

Thanks in advance for the prayers guys :thumb:

Woah, you could give me a run for my money Tal. First of, yes, 10 more brownie points for being an Aussie, "Aussies rock!" ahem, *Recollects himself*

Anyways, though you may be getting enough sleep, mentally you might be pushing yourself too hard. I've done that before, no amount of caffine can recover you at this point. Personally, you might consider making time to just veg out for a day, relax, let you mind rest, perhaps watch a good ol' movie and catch a few extra hous of sleep, just let you mind get some R&R ya know? that way, you can retackle things and your mind will be a little more sharpened to address the matters ans situations and projects you have going for yourself.

Also, are you active, physically? Like, do you exercise, run, weights, even walking. I was very tired at one point, and this was over a period of months, but then I found that if I remain active, I could wake up sharper in the morning and could think clearer because my body was more in tune and refreshed by being active, had more blood flowing, and when one becomes too inactive, the body starts to slow down and any type of activity becomes stressful and slow. This is only if your not too active though, where as the flip side is if your too active, a day of rest is probably just the thing for you. For both body and mind.

But anyways, you have my prayers, I'll pray that God gives you peace of mind, and wisdom to tackle each of your situations, as well as confidence when it comes to your group projects.

Keep us informed, and no your not beating a dead horse

Unfortunately, I won't be able to do that... atleast not for 4 or so more weeks (until the mid-sem break is on). I really wish I could, but if I did I would fall WAY behind in the workload. I'm barely breaking even as it is...

No, I'm not. It's difficult to stay active in winter. I used to walk everyday in the summer/autumn period, but its far too cold now. Though, the weather should be getting nicer in a month or two, so I'll restart my walks when that happens. For now, I guess I could always do sit-ups??

Never fear, the horse is not beaten! I pray that you'd get a second wind as you face the 4 weeks ahead. Sometimes all you can do is pray. I've been in situations before where the only sort of rest I could get was when I spent some time with the Lord. I mean, this isn't the kind of time with him where you curl up with your Bible on the couch, but it's more like just recognizing that He's there with you and will help you through. It's like staying in touch with Him even when things get busy, you know? I dunno, I hope that makes sense. I'll be praying!

Yeah, I'm not too great myself when it's cold. However I do try to stay active, I do alot of weight training, sit ups work as well, some cardio too being whats what mainly sends you blood rushing to the places we need it most, (Like the brain for my case  )Also, when your active your body generates heat so it's easier to cope with the cold. Even some basic stretching works as well when ya wake up....work out allthe kinks fromthe joints and loosen the body so you wont be so stiff during the day, I do it alot, really helps out.

That does make sense actually :P Actually, I'm not feeling as close to Him as I have been... perhaps that's the reason I've been so tired lately. I still read my Bible daily, but it just seems a bit dry if you know what I mean. Also having a hard time praying... again with my lack of concentration. I've still got to try out listening to worship and singing before praying, so I'll let you know how that goes.

Stretches are good... I can do those :P I don't have any weights, so that wouldn't work... but stretches will suit me just fine I think XD Thanks for the ideas matie!

You could probably use anything with weight, even gallons of juice to do a little weight training. I have a big leather bag with top straps that I pack with big thick text books, all together it weighs 50-60 pds, so it's a decent weight tool.

However the best weight to use is your own, in which case push-up and sit-up would be your best bet. But yeah, stretches also help as well...if only to get rid of the mornin kinks.
